Patch 4.0.3a NERFED BY 12%

Last night I took all three of my 80s out of Dalaran. Moly is in Undercity. Inucusia is in Darnassus. After running Hydra from one city to another playing with elementals, I thought Ironforge was the best place for her to be during The Shattering.

To see what is going on you can check out the patch notes for 4.0.3a. Other then the complete change of the world around us… warlocks had a 12% nerf. It took 12% of my fun out of the game.

In my calculation the change of the world is a 10% fun increase. Doing the math this patch is 2% less fun then yesterday. /sign

BUT I can totally create a Gnome Priest. Which if you didn’t know is Hydra’s sister that I mentioned in a random RP post.

There are full notes elsewhere. But in-case you cannot see them here are the general and warlock changes.

The Shattering of Azeroth

In the frigid wastes of Northrend, the final battle against the merciless Lich King ended in victory for Azeroth's defenders. Upon returning home, veterans of the unforgiving conflict against the Scourge were showered with praise for their valiant sacrifices, while the honorable dead were mourned. Yet as hope flared anew in the wake of the Lich King's fall, Azeroth's native elemental spirits grew confused and erratic, setting off a series of deadly natural disasters. Horde and Alliance leaders scrambled for clues about the troubling state of the world, but nothing could have prepared them for what was to come.

Without warning, the corrupted Dragon Aspect, Deathwing, erupted from the stone heart of Deepholm, the domain of earth within the Elemental Plane. Jagged fissures were torn across the earth, and monstrous waves pummeled coastal regions. From Thousand Needles to the Blasted Lands, the surface of Azeroth was reforged through violent upheavals. Now, the Horde and the Alliance must defend their homes against Deathwing and his minions, burdened by the unsettling fact that the world as they know it has changed... forever.

Azeroth Shattered
Deathwing's return has had an immeasurable impact throughout the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Players will notice drastically altered terrain, thousands of new quests from levels 1-55, and updated level ranges for some zones to improve the questing flow.

New Race/Class Combinations
In the wake of a world on the brink of destruction, members of the Horde and Alliance have taken to new cultures and studies, mastering crafts previously foreign to them. Many existing playable races now have new class combinations. Check the official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm website for a breakdown of the new combinations.

General
• The World of Warcraft: Cataclysm cinematic trailer and login screen have been added to the game.
• Experience required to gain levels 71 through 80 has been reduced by 20%, which increases leveling rate by 25%.

Classes: General
• Due to several talent revisions for select classes, druids, paladins, priests, and shaman have had their talent trees reset.
• The damage and healing done by players from levels 1-79 has been retuned, with the base points of almost all spells and abilities reduced. This was done to bring combat times at low levels to a more reasonable length. For most abilities that deal weapon damage, the weapon damage percent now rises per level until level 80, and starts at a lower percent.
• Healing Rain, Efflorescence, Holy Radiance, Holy Word: Sanctuary now have a diminished effect when healing more than 6 players at once.
• Mortal Strike, Furious Attacks, Wound Poison, Widow Venom, Permafrost, Improved Mind Blast, Monstrous Bite, and Legion Strike now reduce healing by 10%, down from 25%.
• Effects which are broken from taking too much damage (Fear, Frost Nova, Entangling Roots, etc.) now break automatically from about half as much damage taken as before.

Warlock
• Bane of Agony damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Bane of Doom damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Corruption damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Death Coil damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Drain Life damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Drain Soul damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Immolate damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Incinerate damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Rain of Fire damage has been increased to be more comparable to other area-of-effect abilities.
• Searing Pain damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Seed of Corruption damage has been reduced to be more comparable to other area-of-effect abilities.
• Shadowbolt damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
• Soul Fire damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.

Demonology
o Hand of Gul'dan damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.

Destruction
o Chaos Bolt damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
o Conflagrate damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.
o Shadowburn damage has been reduced by approximately 12%.

Bug Fixes
o Drain Life: The Soulburn version of this was charging 17% of base mana instead of 12% like the normal version. This has been corrected.

Achievements
• The Gladiator reward mounts now award Master Riding.
• What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been now awards Master Riding.

Items
• Mysterious Egg now takes only 3 days to turn into a Cracked Egg and has a slightly greater chance of awarding the Reins of the Green Proto-Drake.
• PvP set bonuses now provide 70 of stats such as Agility, Intellect, and Strength (down from 100) at 2 pieces, and 180 of these stats (down from 300) at 4 pieces.

Professions
• Perfect Gem Cutting and Mixology have been removed as trainable skills and are instead passives profession abilities. When players reach the appropriate skill levels, they will start getting bonuses from Mixology (they must know the recipe to gain the benefit) and/or cutting perfect gems (depending on their profession, of course).

Alchemy
o Alchemy recipes now require Crystal Vials. Deathwing broke all the others because he's mean (or because he didn't want alchemists to carry 5 different vials around with them).

Engineering
o The Engineering Tinkering enchants will no longer provide their bonus stats, but the activated effects will stack with other enchants. In 4.0.1 the stats were there (but hidden) and are now removed.

Bug Fixes
• Certain area-of-effect abilities are no longer ignoring the area-of-effect damage cap.
• Mobs and NPCs should no longer appear to randomly gain or lose health during combat.
• Re-summoning pets in Battlegrounds should no longer count towards a player's total healing done.

Known Issues
• Some tooltips may not reflect the most recent changes to certain abilities.
• Worgen hunters are currently unable to learn Dual Wield.
• The achievement Explore Tol Barad will not be possible to complete upon release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

Blue Ribbon

I have been totally behind in keeping you updated. If you noticed there were a lot of silences the last few months. That does not mean I don’t have things to TELL you. I think of things all the time… just don’t get a chance to write it to you. I have no plans on making that better.

Most of those I play with have no issue with gold.Husband has some funny ideas about Warlocks.I always thought kilts were shorter. If you don’t know the reference here is a WoW adaptation. I like to point out with my “less” gear I can out dps the other lock at times because I can get bored in raid and he is funny. It is not so easy to solo a boss that calls adds and likes to ice tomb somebody. But I wanted the black roses!!
This has to be the funniest thing ever in raid chat. The guild is called Night Shift for a reason. I call this bit “Gear Porn”.I love arena ties. Watching that mage crit me was only as sweet as all my dots going off at once.A month later it is still not a dress.Sometimes you need to ask an accuser to clarify. I get away with a lot of things but there is so much to choose from he needs to be specific.
I like this boss view of Hydra’s shadow bolt. So you should like it too, ‘cause I said too.A friend closed account got hacked into a few months ago. Of course they took everything. I forgot his DK was in my horde guild with guild bank access. So here is "everything":
Arcane Crystal x4
Gold Ore x10
Heavy Stone x60
Mithril Ore x60
Silver Ore x16
Star Ruby x2
Truesilver Ore x4

… but left the linen cloth and solid stone. They didn’t think it was worth anything either.

Turn of DPS

Husband and I came to this guild so that we could stay on server. One of the key points to staying on server was regular raiding. We are two DPS. That had its challenges.

When we joined they were recruiting a rogue or two. They had 4 raiding warlocks… my time was not likely.

The Rogue was into raids. Husband was suddenly the third Rogue. And the only Combat Rogue. Once they got the three way tricks of the trade going they were fine.

Husband can run raids seven days a week. Me? Not so much.

Suddenly all the locks but one vanished. (You cannot prove that I did anything to them. *cough*)

I am now the second warlock.

I think I would go insane if I regularly raided seven days a week.

We run 25s four days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The number of days does change depending on sign ups. Only two are progression nights.

That would be fine. My issue right now is… 10 mans.

Husband has been in an established 10 man. There was some trouble with tanks but they are working that out.

I was doing 10 mans on Moly for a while. Raids were going to be back to back. My Horde raid would end and then I would have to run to my Alliance raid.

It seemed really hard to justify taking a spot when I would have to leave at raid time with no expectations. Plus my horde guild seems to have some great people signing up for raids.

Plus I need to find time to eat.

Here I am now months into raiding with my guild. I do not have an established 10 man raid group. I have mostly messed around in alt runs or filled in a night or two. I have been asked by my Husband's group to attach myself to them. I have now been asked by the guild leader to join his.

When the first 10 man asked me I made a deal. Sure I would join only if OS3D is done. “No Problem” I was told.

The guild leader asked me one week to come in for Sindragosa. My answer? “Sure if we do OS3D first.” He would have to ask of course.

Truthfully, I was using up all my opportunities to come into a raid that had all but two bossed down. It was not so much the loot I minded losing but that was a lot of Emblems of Frost. We were able to 9-man OS3D since the 10th didn’t log in until 25 minutes after start of raid time.

I don’t think I could commit to a 10 man from start to finish on the three non-25s nights. I like PVP, fishing, playing Horde, doing random crap, and even being off game. *gasp*

Right now I have choices. It is good to be wanted DPS. At the same time … I am watching the TV, sewing, and Sudoku.

This DPS can be bought for an OS3D run.

I think that makes me a DPS whore? Yes, Hydra, you are a DPS whore, wear it proudly. I can be bought!

... still. I do need to find a blanace between raiding and other things in my life. I don't know what to do about the 10 man raiding.

Moly the Undying

Head back to December 30, 2009. Moly was sitting in a raid for some Ulduar hardmodes. Unfortunately we only had seven in raid and we were not looking to PUG the other spots.

Tanks
Morbid the Grumpy, if there is a not so bright spot on a sunny day he would be in it. Even with that if you can get him to smile, you know it was at someone’s expense.

Uba the OP, as a Pally tank should not be able to /AFK tank and go grab a drink. Once known around Almost Evil as “THE Mage”, he is the best mage I have ever run with.

Healers
Arch of the Broken Hand, priest that has a tendency to want to shadow. Who will be going into surgery for tendons in his hand in a few weeks.

Alo the New, Resto druid with a sweet voice and no idea what she got herself into by joining us.

DPS
Rybo the Guild Drunk, he can warlockery better drunk. Get him going in vent and you cannot get him to stop.

iLock the Sweet, he is my partner in crime in making fun of Rybo. He also doesn’t get to raid much so it is always a treat when we can.

Moly the Hunter, she is a noob hunter who only knows fights from the warlock perspective.

Standing in Dalaran making stacks of Ink of the Sea, a call out for Naxxramas Undying was made.

Can we seven man Undying?
Why not!!

It will be better then farming more heroics and heck of a lot better then standing around Dalaran.

Here is the list of achievements Moly received on one run of Naxx.
  • Sapphiron's Demise (10 player)
  • The Hundred Club (10 player)
  • Kel'Thuzad's Defeat (10 player)
  • Subtraction (10 player)
  • The Construct Quarter (10 player)
  • The Safety Dance (10 player)
  • The Plague Quarter (10 player)
  • Arachnophobia (10 player)
  • The Arachnid Quarter (10 player)
  • The Military Quarter (10 player)
  • The Dedicated Few (10 player)
  • The Fall of Naxxramas (10 player)
  • The Undying
With only three DPS we were 20 seconds off from getting the Patchwerk three minute kill. It was a clue that we were not going to have any trouble DPSing our way through the instance.

As a hunter I was suppose to kite Gluth’s adds. Well that didn’t go so well. I had no idea where they came from. I had no control. I didn’t do so hot. Half way through Uba took over the kiting and I turned to kill the boss fast.

I did have a close call with Heigan where on the first move I got a little singed. Scared me, I almost went down but with some quick heals and some focus I had no more problems.

We left Four Horsemen for last. For most of the run we talked about how we were going to do the fight. With only seven of us it was impossible to do and guarantee that no one would die.

We pulled in an eighth. An under-geared Holy Pally alt of a guildie who would be following Uba ensuring he didn’t go down. It was all we needed.
It was the most relaxing focused run I have ever done. There was joking and laughing. It was a really great time. We were all prepared to fail but stayed encouraged that we all had the knowledge to get this done. Yes, people died from frogger, but that was how we knew it was a Naxx run.

Saufang and Minions

Minions or pets are fine in the Saurfang fight.

This includes our minions, mage pets, hunter pets, and any other pets.

They are not affected by the blood at all.

My logs have not shown them taking blood damage. I have yet to find a combat log online that indicates a minion (no your fellow raiders as minions do not count) can be affected by the blood boil. If you have a link please share it with us… otherwise…

Any reports that minions cannot be used are greatly exaggerated.

Moly’s World PvP Top 4

Moly was another Horde Hunter, I rolled over two years ago. It took me most of that two years to get to level 80 to raid.

There were BG distractions from 19-49. As for world PvP on a PvP server, it is far and few between.

I was keeping my eyes out for some. You hear all this talk about “care bear” servers. There is the /rawr and the stroking of their epeens about leveling on a PvP server.

I will tell you… it is scarce.

I didn’t have max level characters to call upon for aid. I killed or was killed by some of the Alliance that I came across. But, it would be huge levels between incidents.

A lot of times I couldn’t be bothered. *shrug* But if they bothered me, I would get a chance to practice my jump shot. *grin*

Leveling on a PvP realm did not feel like a feat of strength.

I will give you that I was not new to the game….but whatever. It was not this scary, painful, wondrous thing to do. It was just leveling. No real difference then on my “care bear” RP realm.

Thinking back, to my 80 levels here are some of my most memorable world PvP incidents. The last being my absolute favorite… it reinforces the creative use of game mechanics.

1. Taming Bellygrub

Remember hunters running all over the world getting pet abilities? At level 24, Bellygrub was the only boar with Gore 4. He resides in Redridge Mountains, not the easiest place for a lowbie Horde hunter to get to.

I ghost ran to Westfall. Logged out and back in so I could revive there. I was a lone naked blood elf in the graveyard. I died again … repeatedly.

Apparently there was Horde there messing with Alliance. Alliance called for help and their 70s had shown up. So I was in the middle of a 70s battle and … all I wanted to do was get to Bellygrub … zones away.

I whispered a 70 druid there killing Alliance about my predicament. He dragged them away to let me revive and run on my way.

2. Western Plaguelands

In an effort to make leveling interesting, I tried to focus on areas that I never did on Hydra. I had never quested in this zone.

I was tabbed out of warcraft. I was on wowhead looking for Diseased Wolves for the quest The Wildlife Suffers Too. (Yes, I remember the exact quest… Husband thinks it funny I can remember stuff like this but not names of people I just met.)

I suddenly hear myself getting attacked. I assumed it was wildlife.

It was wildlife alright … in the form of a ret pally.

My pet was faithfully gnawing on his leg. I was at half health. Pally wanted to play while I was afk.

Wing clip. Frost trap. Jump shot. Concussive shot. Kite. Heh. This hunter was trained covering the fields of Warsong.

What we have here is a hunter in quest greens you couldn’t kill with a head start. /lol

3. Hellfire

Off though the Dark Portal I went to Outland. You would think I would learn not to go AFK on the road. A rogue ganking was in order.

I just let it kill me.

If I remember correctly, I went to get a sandwich. I’m sure it was worth it.

4. Dragonblight

I was turning in a quest at Wyrmrest Temple. Hovering in the vendor area, I noticed an 80 Death Knight killing.

Who am I to disrupt his fun! MOR KILLING!

I got close enough to the DK so when he spread his diseases I would get it. Now in combat, I would share the diseases… with the guards. Well … heh… guard collecting was my fun.

Get disease and in combat… grab a few guards for the DK.

All the while I was flying around on my mount.

Hey! If I killed him, it would be only 1% durability loss. This way he got the 10%... kinda like I killed him 10 times over. Bwahahaha.

How I Stopped Keyboard Turning

While poking around one of the guild forums I found an old post about keyboard turning. There was a link to a wow.com topic.

I started out as a keyboard turner.

The games I initially played on the PC were not first person shooters, but strategy games. If I wanted to shoot something I would do that on my console games.

Even on the Warcraft site it immediately encourages keyboard turning by saying “Use the W, A, S, D keys to move around the world.”

So that is what I did…

Then I quickly figured out I needed to strafe. Keeping what I was attacking in front of me. It let me watch the fight in more detail.

The wow.com article linked to wikipedia which had an animation to show just how dps can move around a target.

First, I key-bound the left strafe to the Q key and right strafe to the E key. This enabled me to move forward at a 45 degree angle at a running pace, to exclusively strafe, and to move more effectively.

I ran into a big problem quickly. Holding down ability keys 1-0 plus moving was a pain. In a tough battle I was crossing my hands over. I was looking at keys to hit the buttons. It was still a mess. Plus I was not utilizing my right hand, my most dominate, efficiently.

Next, I moved off all movement keys onto my ten key. I added as a secondary key-binding to movements the 7, 8, 9, 4, 5, and 6 keys. This worked extremely well.

This is actually how the Rogue plays. He has always been faster with the 10 key. You can key-bind all your movement to your right hand, this includes jump. This frees up a significant amount of buttons for abilities using your left hand. ProTip don’t use the Num Lock or Esc as a key binding, that is just silliness. So this worked out extremely well.

The problem I was having with the 10 key was jump shots on my hunters. I would actually lift my hand off the 10 key onto the mouse and then execute the shot then move my hand back. Again the back and forth would cause me to loose my spot on the 10-key making me look down to adjust my finger positioning.

Then, I started to move with my mouse. I had a standard two button mouse with a scroll wheel. I key-bound autorun to the scroll click, so I could be lazy and not always hold down both buttons. I was back to using the Q and E key to strafe, plus the S key for back. Ugg. That was not going to work either.

Finally, I am at the point of using me the Belkin n52te and Razor Lachesis. Both peripherals come with buttons galore. Both of which I didn’t expect to change my game as much as they did.

I use the movement pad on the n52 to strafe. I use the mouse to move my character and camera angle. I autorun with the scroll wheel click. I back up with the center top button. And my genius was when I key-bound the M key for map to the center bottom button.

Only time I touch the keyboard now is to type. So yes, when Hydra is not moving or hopping around it is because I am typing someone. Unfortunately, concentrating on the keyboard for typing has not improved my spelling or grammar.

With all this work to move it is no wonder why I get so pissed when I get caught in the fire. On that note, I will still laugh at you if you back up out of the fire. If you are lucky I will not call you out in vent for doing it.

Why not Mount Up?

I am trying to encourage my guild to regularly run Obsidian Sanctum three Drakes(OS3D) 10 and 25 mans to farm drakes. Currently this is my most frustrating thing in game. I don’t think people understand why mounts can be more important then farming gear.
(This topic makes me incoherent so bear with me on this list.)

1) Your gear will be replaced in the next patch.
2) There are always more emblems.
3) You know there is another expansion coming.
4) Cool weapons only get worn in Dalaran. How many Warglaves do you see running Icecrown now?
5) For an ICC geared group it is the fastest 20 minutes boss kill you will see. Heck TOC gear is good too.
6) It takes longer to get the group together then to kill the dragon.
7) It takes longer to kill trash then to kill the dragon.
8) Killing OS3D is about as long as the queue is for DPS to run their daily heroic on their own.
9) People are STILL farming mounts out of places like Stratholme, Zul'gurub, and Sethekk Halls.
10) How many runs of holiday bosses have you been on for mounts? Your guild?
11) Do you still go to Utgarde Pinnacle and think “Maybe the Blue Proto-Drake will drop this time?”
12) The more you complain about it the less you understand the value of loot.
13) Mounts are billboards of what your guild is doing.
14) How long do you think Blizzard is going to keep this GUARANTEED mount drop in the game?

Mounts and titles are the few things your character takes with you as you move from expansion to expansion.

I see one of my Shammies riding around on his Phoenix. It truly is one of the most beautiful mounts in game.  Beyond that I see a raider that ran Tempest Keep.

I see my Swift White Hawkstrider. It think about how excited the group was to see it drop. I know how much fun it was to run heroic Magister’s Terrace and strategize before killing the PvP boss.

To this day I still get shit for not giving the Headless Horseman’s Steed to Husband. The mount dropped on his birthday. F-k you all … you weren’t going to pass. I know I didn’t. *grin*

When my Mom-in-law hit 80 and started doing Heroics I set up a group for The Culling of Stratholme. It was not for gear upgrades. It was for the Bronze Drake. I was glad I was able to give that gift to her. A few days later she even thanked me again. She still loves flying around on it a great deal.

When I see someone on a Red Proto-Drake, Violet Proto-Drake, Ironbound Proto-Drake, or Rusted Proto-Drake, I see all the achievements completed to get one. When they are level 85 they will still have that one thing that said “Yea I did it”.

These simple things are marketing for guild recruitment.

Mounts are your billboards for your recruitment officers. It really tells where your guild is at in content. Also,  what your raiders are motivated to complete.

Are the groups I am raiding with lazy, bored, distracted, or complete jackasses? I don’t think so. But … really… I have no true idea why you would not help farm the drakes for raiders when the last run of OS3D took 20 minutes.

All Aboard the Hunter Express

I was chatting with some Hunters in Blog Azeroth Chat. I have 15-gazzion things I want to talk to you about but sometimes posts with numbers take so long they never get posted.

Last week I raided more on my Hunter then on Hydra. This works right now since TOC 10/25 is such short raids. We will see how it goes when Icecrown is released.

[09:09] hydra: For hunters is there really a big difference between stats for the different specs? or stacking agility good for a nub hunter.
[09:14] EuripidesOutDPS: @Hydra agility is always good
[09:15] EuripidesOutDPS: the rare situations where it's less perfect are really specific (like high end gear)
[09:15] hydra: Rip. TOC25 "high end"?
[09:15] EuripidesOutDPS: for a new raider? You bet your butt.
[09:16] myze: Especially if you're SV, Hydra
[09:16] EuripidesOutDPS: also, toc 25 alone won't push ArP past agility- you need at least a few togc 25 pieces for that
[09:16] hydra: =) then I need to figure something out. I have 1 piece 9.5 and a few 245.
[09:16] EuripidesOutDPS: yeah, arp is only better for MM at 630+ imba generally, and then arguably so
[09:16] hydra: only for MM?
[09:17] EuripidesOutDPS: MM hunters that stack agi do more DPS in a lot of situations, but there korolon DPS is a little lower
[09:17] EuripidesOutDPS: only for MM
[09:17] EuripidesOutDPS: SV gets very little from it, and BM even less
[09:17] hydra: I am survival at the moment.
[09:17] EuripidesOutDPS: their attacks already ignore armor
[09:17] EuripidesOutDPS: yeah, agi 100%
[09:17] hydra: Ok.
[09:18] EuripidesOutDPS: and unless you want to carry around 1000g of epic gems to min max the 3 encounters where arp is better than agi for some MM hunters, you're safe with agi
[09:18] hydra: I have hit 5K or more dps. and have been 80 for a little over 3 weeks.
[09:18] EuripidesOutDPS: also, crit if it's a yellow socket and the bonus is good
[09:18] TheStoppableForce: Hy's filthy rich, she might just carry the gems around
[09:18] EuripidesOutDPS: that's good
[09:18] EuripidesOutDPS: I'm filthy rich too, but I didn't get that way by wasting 1000g on every boss change
[09:19] EuripidesOutDPS: Hey Hy, have you run your toon through femaledwarf.com?
[09:19] hydra: Hey now. I am down to only 6K on this toon. she is broke compared to Hydra. Granted this is after leveling both Inscription and Enchanting.
[09:19] EuripidesOutDPS: really? I made money getting those maxed out
[09:19] hydra: I was looking at femaledwarf.com
[09:20] EuripidesOutDPS: check out agi and crit DPS per itemization
[09:20] hydra: The professions were leveled in 4 days. So I would be ready for raid.
[09:20] EuripidesOutDPS: if it's about even, see if you can swap some 20 agi gems in yellow slots out for 10 agi 10 crit ones to get the socket bonus
[09:20] EuripidesOutDPS: ah, that I cant do
[09:20] hydra: Rib... I dont know where on the sheet to see that.
[09:20] EuripidesOutDPS: I took several weeks to make sure I never bought too much and drove prices up
[09:21] EuripidesOutDPS: it's near the bottom- you have a grid with "dps per itemization"
[09:21] hydra: ok. will look.
[09:21] EuripidesOutDPS: here: http://outdps.com/2009/08/11/how-to-use-the-online-dps-calculator/
http://outdps.com/2009/11/06/armor-penetration-vs-agility-redux/
http://outdps.com/2009/09/14/epic-gem-and-enchant-list/
[09:21] hydra: \o/
[09:22] hydra: thanks.
[09:22] EuripidesOutDPS: between those three you have the complete picture :)
[09:22] EuripidesOutDPS: welcome
[09:23] hydra: Rip. sorry for all the hunter question. I am raiding on 2 toons at the moment. and I am neck deep in warlock stuff. You are easier to ask for the hunter stuffs. =)
[09:24] hydra: ... that and I have been rolling around in www.raider101.com
[09:24] hydra: hopping something sticks.

[09:25] hydra: is the wolf really the only raiding pet?
[09:26] hydra: I keep wanting to try like... wind serpent!
[09:26] myze: Just say no
[09:26] hydra: =)
[09:27] myze: And if you're not BM, then yes. And if you are BM, GTFO
[09:28] myze: Though my BM raider in Savant always tops the meters... and ranked on WoL like 5 times last night
[09:29] hydra: I picked up the wolf from felwood with pieces missing. I have kid my tanks that they are eating pieces off of him while I am not looking.
[09:30] hydra: that is why they stand him in fire so they can have charred wolf kabobs.
[09:30] Ratter: lol
[09:30] myze: I'm pretty sure she did about as much DPS on this Beasts attempt that I did the one time I tried BM on 25....
[09:31] myze: And her gear is all from 10mans...

{Insert LOTR conversation on if Legolas Min/Maxed and talent points}

[09:48] hydra: Hunter I did just what raider101.com said. Cause well. I didn’t have time. So figured I would start there.
[09:48] myze: I assume you're 15/56?
[09:49] hydra: ... you would assume I knew that ... you would be wrong. =) *goes and looks*
[09:50] hydra: 18/53 at the moment.
[09:50] hydra: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Mal%27Ganis&n=Molybdenum
[09:51] hydra: Hit is high. over 8%. . but get gear faster then I can pay attention to it.
[09:51] Nibuca: sounds like a tough problem to have :P
[09:52] hydra: but I think I have stabilized for a bit.
[09:52] hydra: lol.. not a complaint.
[09:52] hydra: just can spec out of hit talents. ... and haven’t.
[09:52] hydra: ;)
[09:52] myze: Some interesting choices there.
[09:53] hydra: rofl
[09:54] myze: If you want to get rid of those Focused Aim points, you can move them right up to Improved stings, it really plays nicely with the current set bonuses out there.
[09:54] hydra: K.
[09:54] myze: Also, you'll have a lot more mana on fights like Faction Champs and Twins where you can Viper Sting an off target
[09:55] hydra: ...viper sting... yea... I guess I should use that in that fight.
[09:55] myze: Yeah, just focus a mage or something, you should never have to go AotV on that fight
[09:56] EuripidesOutDPS: I like that fight
[09:56] myze: You don't need 3/3 EW, 2/3 will be just about as good
[09:56] myze: If you're needed for replenishment, I'd put that point in Hunting Party, if not, I'd put those two points in Resourcefulness
[09:56] Ratter: I'm thinking my point is being made
[09:57] myze: Perhaps.
[09:57] hydra: lol. Ratter.
[09:57] myze: But I'm sure Hydra already does BAMF damage in raids.
[09:57] myze: His spec is fine as is.
[09:57] myze: The improvements I offer are small, but at the top, you scrape for every bit
[09:58] hydra: I think of min/maxing like someone building a mini train set. It can be as detailed or as not as you want. As long as the train still goes and you can still laugh.
[09:59] Nibuca: I never really found trains that interesting...
[10:00] hydra: I love trains! and would make lego towns for them.

Hunter Pre-raid Gear a Lock’s Tip

Euripides over at Outdps.com posted Eidotrope’s Guide to Pre-Raid Hunter Gear.

This was written the day after Moly hit 80. I know Rip posted this in anticipation of all my Hunter questions in BA chat. The first starting off with “Does normal 5 man TOC drop a trinket for hunters? Armor Pen?” then the “Where else can I get trinkets?” … because we have 2 slots you know. Which Rip answered my first few questions and then directed me to the post.

So my lock tip is this…
Pre-raid gearing check out Eidotrope’s Guide to Pre-Raid Hunter Gear.
For button pushing head over to www.raider101.com.

As warlocks we are experts at watching DOT timers, cooldowns, and talent procs. Utilize that knowledge to keeping stings up and watching when things are off cooldown.

Running groups with both my lock and hunter has taught me 2 things.

1. I want Disengage on my lock.
2. I want Life Tap on my hunter.

How I am addressing these new found issues.

1. I am going to adjust my key binding to put Demonic Circle and Disengage on the same key binding.
2. Play my lock more. *grin*

Hunter Makes Three (or is Horde always number one?)

I now have a third level 80. Moly the Hunter was brought up on PvP and late night questing. If I get to it I will regale you with the few world leveling PvP stories she has participated in. I stopped randomly questing at level 78. I enjoy leveling. Running around and gaining experience for leveling. But take out that... and I fail. I cannot seem to convince myself to quests for the sake of questing once I hit level cap. Only questing I do is to open flight paths, factions, special events, or reputation. I am at a loss to think of any more reasons I would.

Before I hit 80 I wanted to get a few things done...
Sons of Hodir reputation open for dailies,
Ebon Blade reputation open for tabard, and
Icecrown phased flight paths open.
I would have stopped questing once I dinged 80. But I was informed of the new epic Quel'Delar quest line. This will give 251 weapon as quest reward. All the details have yet to be known but I am sure one of the news sites will tell us soon. But rumor has it it is an extension to one of the long lines in Icecrown. Not knowing which one I am choising to do them all. (They could be telling me all of this to MAKE me quest, which is highly probable.)

Skinning and mining were my professions while leveling. I have made a lot of gold with the two gathering professions. Plus they don't clutter your bags while questing with materials for craftables.

Now at 80, I want to level a crafting profession. I think I am pretty set on swapping out my mining for Enchanting. I was going to keep mining instead of skinning for the high gold value of the profession. Truthfully I can never see myself farming mining nodes. I don't do that now on my Alliance server. I cannot see myself doing it Horde side.

Plus, so far my experience in raids has shown a low number of people actually having skinning in 5, 10, and 25 mans. Every corpse unskinned is gold left behind. I am there anyway and it KILLS me to leave that much gold rotting on the floor.

A friend gifted me with some epic gloves, wrists, and legging. I had a teary moment. Yes, I am weird. Poor Moly has never had much and has used what scraps a leveling toon can get. So getting all that at once was shocking.

Everyone should use it, so lets say it together...
www.raider101.com.

I went to the trainer and bought duelspecilization. Since I have yet to read a lot of detail information on huntering in raids, www.raider101.com is a perfect place to start.

Also I am specing into Survival for the first time. So as we all know as we should all take a moment to learn the new talents. THEN CHECK THE TRAINER AGAIN. I spend a bunch more gold learning abilities I have never had before.

A lot left to do before I deem Moly a raidable toon. Even so a while after dinging 80 she was in 5-man Heroic TOC. Were I picked up a new pair of epic gloves.

I am Beastmaster because ever since 3.0 added exotic pets I wanted a worm. Not any worm but a pokey pretty multicolored worm from Northrend. After a lot of complaints that I didn't name my worm after the first few levels of having him he was given the name Wiggles. Or more properly called Mr. Wiggles.

Now I will have to get some pets in order. I have all tenacity pets a bear, a boar, a gorilla, and a worm. I want a wolf and spider to diversify. I am planning to get the diseased wolf from Felwood. I have also been fond of the glass spiders. I may change my mind on the spiders, they make funny sounds.

That is what I have been doing for the last few weeks.
... long rambling post happens when I don't blog for a while (plus it is 2 in the morning). *grin*

My First Transfer

Molybdenum is now on Mal'Ganis. *fiddles with link on blog side bar to update information.* I was hesitant to transfer but something changed my mind… gold.

A few weeks ago a group of my Farstriders raiders not only left server but faction changed to Horde on Mal’ganis. At the time this happened I was distracted by RL things. So though I was sad they left, the less raiding was good for me. Figured I would worry about it when I got the chance. My chance is now...

They transferred. Friends have transferred before and went unnoticed by me. But these group of people are who I instanced with on a regular basis... multiple times a week regular basis.

My guild is now a few shy of a 25 man. So 25 progression will not be happening for a while.

Then the question of Husband and I transferring came up. Husband thought about it for 2 seconds and said “No”.

It was not the transferring servers that was holding him back but the switch to Horde. I am 99% sure if they did not switch to Horde but to only another sever we would have transferred with them.

Me? Hydra was first a Horde warlock. For those have read me a long time know, Hydra the Undead lock was leveled to around 4. I was told I was on the wrong faction. Under protest of the change, because my girlfriend wanted that long legs of the female Alliance, I rolled Gnome.

I could work with being Horde.

Deciding NOT to transfer our main toons has changed what we do in the game a lot. I was instancing or raiding 4-5 times a week. Now it is down to 1-2.

Husband and I have to decide what we want out of the game. He has chosen the reputation grind for The Insane. I have to make new friends.

Hydra now signs up for Tuesdays raids, which I may or may not get called in. I don’t mind being set out since I need no gear from those raids. I sign up if needed for class balance.

I have a set "PuG" 10 man TOC. If you have read me long enough you know I don’t really PuG. All the people in this group I have run with for a long while. We can clear the place in an hour or so. Most are alts or raiders that missed their main raids earlier in the week.

I need to figure out a raiding outlet for Hydra. If I could get at least one more set night I would be satisfied in that regard.

I have reminded guild that I have a decently geared Bear that is a good purple kitteh too. So maybe I can get a chance to tank something official soon.

I have also leveled Aurum a 29 warlock on Windrunner. *fiddles with side bar again* Aurum is now at the point of receiving runs for gear. A friend transferred a toon to Windrunner so he was a good minion and transferred a few thousand gold and enchants for me.

Renewed attention is being put on Moly.

One of the guys was transferring another toon. Then it hit me … he could be a good minion and transfer gold and goods for me too!!!

So we cut a deal.

Moly would get a realm transfer. On some conditions…
1) He would transfer 12,000 gold from Hydra to Moly. (FYI 20K is the max for level 80 for character transfer.)
2) He would transfer goods I wished to sell for more gold, Arctic Furs, Eternal Fires, and few enchanting mats.
3) He would do run troughs focused on Holiday events to get wait-for-me-at-level-80-epics, like the Headless Horseman Rings.

My part of the deal was I would level in a timely manner. That is no small promise. It has taken me two years to get Moly to level 72.

Some are not so excited about this transfer. I promise to take that into consideration too. (Notice how I was trying to completely change the subject.)That was everything that went into the decision for me to move Moly. But mainly it was the gold. Granted I already had 2,800 gold on Moly. But instant self fundage is better.

Side note… even with all the gold transferred off server the last two weeks, Hydra is still at over 60K gold.

Moly To Northrend! Now

I leveled to 70 in Outland.

Did I go to Northrend then? Nope. It was the Isle of Quel’Danas.

Without a lot of time to dedicate to leveling, I did have the 30 minutes to do the dozen dailies on the Isle. It was very adventagous since the first run of the quest I was able to replace my quest bow with Valanos' Longbow.I took some time to talk to some Horde friends about Northrend. Stop highly recommended to me to take the zeppelin outside of Undercity to Vengeance Landing.

I was taunted with the thoughts of plague spreading and mass murder. *cough*

Howling Fjord has been a test bed for the Royal Apothecary Society since landing in Northrend. The tasks to be done there were vile and interesting. This gave a lot of depth to the quests I knew to come in Dragonblight.

Plus there are not spiders on the road out of town to eat your face. Amazingly this is a huge plus.

Moly To Northrend! Eventually

Moly hit level 70 in Shadowmoon Valley.I didn’t go out to Northrend to quest at level 68. I was half way though Hellfire, was ganked by a rogue (One shouldn’t go AFK … on a PvP realm … on the road… on the path to Zangermarsh.) and then heard that Patch 3.2 would change flying to be level 60. So I stayed where I could fly.

Once I had flying I swooped through quests in Hellfire, Nagrand, and Shadowmoon Valley.

In the middle of all that I went to Northrend to train my professions. Might as well continue to get a few skill ups as I am mining and skinning through Outland.

This stalled my leveling.

I didn’t know how to get to Northrend.

I recalled something about something and POOF you were in Northrend. There had to be a way to get there without a mage or a warlock. There are warriors, druids, other hunters, and even pallies getting there.

There was nothing to direct me there. No quest or letter in my mail. I ran from city to city for about 30 minutes trying to remember where everyone was coming and going.

There was no way I was going to “/2 How do I get to Northrend?” can you imagine the … vile dripping sticky response. Not something I wanted to participate in. (At least not in that moment. For some things you need to wait till the mood strikes.)

What did I do? For all things I start at wowwiki.com.

That got me onto the zeppelin outside Orgrimmar … swing a right. I don’t remember seeing THAT there before. *shrug* Only excuse I have is it has been a really long time since I have spent time outside Orgrimmar.

*Hydra whispers into Moly’s ear*

FINE… Brewfest… but who could see farther then your own hand during those days. Weeks. Wait what were we talking about? NORTHREND. K.

The zeppelin outside Org takes you to Warsong Hold. The sheer massiveness of the “outpost” was shocking. All the levels and the solid build of the constructions. This will be a place to make a stand! (I had that Wrath of the Lich King fresh feeling. Has it really been a year already?)

So I picked up my training. I poked around all the corners. I made a nuisance of my self to the guards. They got tired of my insistent questions they stopped talking to me.

Where was the skinning trainer?

Apparently not in Warsong Hold.

I ran my level 68 elf butt out of the hold, through the spiders, across the lands to Taunka'le Village. Many a pet sacrifices (thanks Baby.) All of that to get me there in some resemblance of one piece (54% durability per the screenshot. I am quite sure it was a straight line running into mobs issue). I could now level my skinning.

Patch 3.2 Hacked Up Notes

I don’t think I am the target audience for Blizzard. I watched the cinematic for Patch 3.2 Call of the Crusade. The cinematic looks great. Once it was done I realized it didn’t highlight anyone thing that I am looking forward to in this patch.

1) Twink only battles by turning off experience points.
2) Lifeblood doesn’t have GCD, again.
3) I get a purple Kitteh.

I rewatched it after reading the patch notes. Still nothing…

Here are the patch notes with only things I care about or thought funny. There is no reason for you to read these except in EXTREAM boredom. The full patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/.

Crusaders' Coliseum
//They added 6 new instances. Crusaders' Coliseum holds 5-man normal and heroic, 10-man normal and heroic, and 25-man normal and heroic.

Isle of Conquest
//a new BG was added. It is time to get your vehicle on 40 man style. The resources usage takes me back to Age of Mythology.

General
//Blah blah blah. There are other places to get this information, like the real patch notes.

* The Argent Tournament Expands
o All new Argent Crusader daily quests and rewards have been added for players with the Crusader title. Rewards include a new Argent Crusader banner and tabard (which can port players to the tournament grounds), a mounted squire (can periodically run bank, mail or vendor errands for the player), a paladin-exclusive Argent Crusader Charger mount and new heirloom items. //Hearth to tourney and I have been wanting a more useful slave child since I cannot put a leash on him.
* New Dungeon Loot Feature
o Players will now be able to trade soulbound items with other raid or group members that were eligible for the loot. This system will work like the Item Buy Back system and allow 2 hours for players to trade an item after it has been looted. Players who choose to enchant or add gems to the item will get one last confirmation before losing the ability to trade the item. // This is pure customer service win.
* New druid art for Cat Form and Bear Form has been added. There are now five unique color schemes for each form and faction. Changing hair color (night elves) or skin tone (tauren) via the barbershop will change the look of one's cat and bear forms. //PURPLE KITTEH NOW!!!! *lick*

PvP

* Arenas
o Beginning with season 7, players will no longer have access to the newest season's weapons or shoulder armor and will not qualify for the Gladiator title/rewards with ratings from the 2v2 bracket alone. Ratings obtained through 3v3 and 5v5 game play will be required for these rewards, while the rest of the newest season's items will remain available to players in all brackets (standard rating restrictions still apply). //I am going to be running Arenas this season. I was told there needs to be more warlocks in arena so I have been practicing. What have I learned? I was going to say “I’m a noob.” But I knew that already, mostly that Demonic Circle http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=48020 is your friend and Shadowfury http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=47847 is fun!
* Battlegrounds
o Battleground experience has arrived!
+ Players will now be awarded experience for completing objectives and actions that yield honor in Battlegrounds (honorable kills not included).
+ Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold. //TWINKS DO IT. This should be one of the first things you should do. I am going to do this with different toons to try it all out before Aurum sets foot into another BG.
+ Disabling experience gains will prevent a player from gaining experience through any means available in the game.
+ Players with experience gains turned off who compete in Battlegrounds will face off only against other players with experience gains turned off. //I like this a lot. I am still concern about the queue times. Time will tell us if it is bad or not.
+ Behsten and Slahtz can reinstate experience gains for players, for a 10 gold fee of course. Any experience that would've been accumulated if experience gains were enabled cannot be recovered. //The unrecoverable experience is a good thing. I had a flash of turning this off and months of exp popping up for the toon. *shiver*
o Battlemasters in major cities affiliated with specific Battlegrounds have been replaced with a Battlemaster for each faction that will allow players to queue for any Battleground. Battlemasters for specific Battlegrounds will still be seen around the cities during corresponding Battleground holiday weekends. //Less NPCs. I was just thinking though that the ones in Ironforge seemed to be having an intense meeting. Apparently they are done chatting it up.
o When standing at a capture point that you control, you will gain a buff called Honorable Defender. This buff grants +50% honor gained from kills. This currently affects Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm and Isle of Conquest.
o Arathi Basin
+ The time it requires to capture a base has been reduced to 8 seconds, down from 10 seconds.
+ The game now ends when one team reaches 1600 victory points, down from 2000.
o Eye of the Storm
+ The time it requires to capture the center flag has been reduced to 8 seconds, down from 10 seconds
+ The game now ends when one team reaches 1600 victory points, down from 2000.
o Strand of the Ancients
+ The faction starting on attack/defense will now be randomized at the start of each match.
o Warsong Gulch
+ There is a now a 20-minute timer on this Battleground. After that time, the team with the most flag captures wins. If this would result in a tie, the team that captured the first flag wins. If neither side has captured a flag, then the game ends in a tie.
* Wintergrasp //LOSERS! Take something that was so popular and f-uk it up. If these changes make it painful to do my fishing daily, I am putting in a help ticket. EVERY TIME.
o To provide players with a more transparent notification of when Wintergrasp battles occur, as well as better control zone population and stability, several changes have been made.
+ Players now have the option to queue for Wintergrasp from a Wintergrasp Battlemaster in any capital city or by simply entering the Wintergrasp zone.
+ Queuing will begin 15 minutes before each battle. If chosen, you will automatically be teleported to the zone. Any players in the zone who have not been chosen from the queue will be teleported out when the battle begins.
+ The queue system remains active for the entire battle. As soon as a player leaves, a new one will be chosen from the queue.
+ Trying to enter Wintergrasp during an active battle for which you have not been chosen will teleport you out. Please note that, as you are now able to fly over Wintergrasp, you will only be teleported out if you try to land and join the battle. //What about fishing f-ckers. This whole impeding my fishing is making me twitch.
+ Level 80 players get higher priority in the queue than lower level players. In addition, a random selection of queued players will be taken from both the Battlemasters and the zone itself.
+ The queue will accept up to 120 players from each faction, resulting in a maximum battle of 240 players at a time.
o Wintergrasp factories can no longer be damaged or destroyed.

Dungeons and Raids

* Dungeon and Raid ID Extensions //We will see how this goes. I think smaller guilds will benefit from this more.
* Emblem System Changes. //Yes. This is a good thing.
* The Nexus: The Oculus & The Eye of Eternity
o Drakes used by players in these instances will now scale in health and damage according to the rider's average item level. //YES. This may make up do our last achievements for heroic instances to get out drakes.
* Ulduar //Yogg-Saron changes. Which I would care about if we could poke at ‘em.
o Players can now use Blink, Shadowstep, and Demonic Teleport while participating in the illusion events in the Yogg-Saron encounter.

Items: General

* Agility: The amount of agility required per percentage of dodge has been increased by 15%.
* Dodge Rating: The amount of dodge rating required per percentage of dodge has been increased by 15%.
* Item Buy Back Feature Revised
o The Item Buy Back time will now expire if the player enchants or sockets an item. Players will see a confirmation dialog box now when they attempt to enchant or add gems to an item giving them a last chance to reconsider.
* Items with Triggered Effects: These items generally have cooldowns on how often they can be triggered. Those cooldowns are now triggered each time the item is equipped (example: A trinket has a 45-second cooldown on an effect triggered by player attacks; when a player equips that item, the effect will be unable to be triggered for the first 45 seconds it is worn).
* Mounts //I am sure you know riding skills changed. Go someplace else for details.
o Flying over Dalaran and Wintergrasp is now possible so long as players keep a healthy distance above the ground.
* Mana Regeneration: All items that provide "X mana per five seconds" have had the amount of mana they regenerate increased by approximately 25%.
* Resilience: No longer reduces the amount of damage done by damage-over-time spells, but instead reduces the amount of all damage done by players by the same proportion. In addition, the amount of resilience needed to reduce critical strike chance, critical strike damage and overall damage has been increased by 15%.

Classes: General

* All pets now receive 40% of their master's resilience and 100% of their master's spell penetration. In addition, if a player is at their appropriate spell hit chance or hit chance maximum, their pet will be at the maximum for spell hit chance, hit chance, and expertise. If they are below the maximum, their pet will be proportionately below those maximums. //Pet buff! But I am sure you had as much pet control as I did that your pet survivability was high already, correct? O.o
* Replenishment: This buff now grants 1% of the target's maximum mana over 5 seconds instead of 0.25% per second. This applies to all 5 sources of Replenishment (Vampiric Touch, Judgements of the Wise, Hunting Party, Enduring Winter Frostbolts and Soul Leech). //Replenishment nerf. What was once 0.25% per second is now 0.20% per second. A 20% reduction.
* Silence, Strangulate, Silencing Shot, and Arcane Torrent: These abilities will also apply a 3-second Interrupt effect against non-player controlled targets, making them more versatile against creatures immune to silencing effects. //Thinking the Gundrak mammoth interrupt achievement.

Death Knights

//My DK has been QQ about this for weeks and weeks. It is now here. I am now bracing myself for more QQ. I still like him anyway.
* Due to significant talent changes, all death knight talents will be reset for players.

Druids //PURPLE KITTEH.

* Enrage: This Bear Form ability now generates 20 rage initially, and 10 rage over the next 10 seconds. The armor penalty is unchanged.
* Flight Form: Can now be learned at level 60. Flight speed increased to 150%.
* Flight Form and Swift Flight Form: Now benefit from a paladin's Crusader Aura.
* Innervate: Duration reduced to 10 seconds, and cooldown reduced to 3 minutes. This means each use of Innervate will give half as much mana as before, but it will be available twice as often.
* Mangle: Ranks 4 and 5 base points reduced by about 11%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Rake: Ranks 6 and 7 base points on initial and periodic damage reduced by about 7%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Rip: Ranks 8 and 9 base points and points per combo point reduced by about 6%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Savage Defense: The animation for gaining this buff will no longer make the bear stand upright
* Shred: Ranks 8 and 9 base points reduced by about 10%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Swift Flight Form: Druids who have acquired a mount able to go 310% flight speed will now also go that speed while in this form. //That is a very cool change. And unexpected. Not that I have one.
* Swipe (Cat): Percent of weapon damage done reduced from 260% to 250%.
* Travel Form: Can now be learned at level 16.
* Talents
o Balance
+ Balance of Power: Now reduces all spell damage taken by 3/6%, rather than reducing the chance to be hit by spells by 2/4%.
o Feral Combat
+ King of the Jungle: This talent now reduces the mana cost of Bear Form, Cat Form, and Dire Bear Form by 20/40/60%.
+ Primal Tenacity: This talent no longer reduces the mana cost of Bear Form, Cat Form, and Dire Bear Form.
o Restoration
+ Empowered Touch: Now also increases the amount of bonus healing effects for Nourish by 10/20%.
+ Improved Barkskin: No longer provides dispel resistance to all effects on the druid, but now reduces the chance your Barkskin is dispelled by an additional 35/70%.

Hunters

* Aspect of the Cheetah: Can now be learned at level 16. //Yummy. Cheetah running hunters for Aurum’s blades.
* Traps now have separate 30-second cooldown categories: Fire (Immolation Trap, Explosive Trap and Black Arrow), Frost (Freezing Trap, Frost Trap) and Nature (Snake Trap). A hunter can have one trap of each category placed at one time.

Mages

* Mirror Image: Images will no longer trigger the death sound when their time expires. //*sniffles* I will miss all the dead mages.

Paladins

//Lots of Pally stuffs. As we all know, each patch is like pallies getting a whole new class to play.

Priests

//Priests happen.

Rogues

* After much quiet contemplation, rogues now possess the ability to learn how to use one-handed axes. //They get new toys.
* Talents
o Combat
+ Sword Specialization: This talent is now called Hack and Slash and applies to axes as well as swords.
o Subtlety
+ Shadow Dance: Cooldown reduced to 1 minute. Now lasts 6 seconds, down from 10 seconds.

Shamans

* A customizable totem bar will now be available for shamans allowing the storing of 4 different totems. These totems can be placed on the ground at once in one global cooldown for the combined mana cost of all 4 totems.
* Ghost Wolf: Can now be learned at level 16. While in this form, snaring effects may not bring the shaman below base normal run speed. //This is going to suck at 19. With Shammies, hunters, and druids getting speed increase it will complete change the different roles in the WSG game.

Warlocks

* Banish: Effect will now be cancelled if Banish is recast on a banished target. //Which is great… if you was not trying to re-banish. Even more reason for you to pay attention to when your banish breaks.
* Dreadsteed: Can now be learned at level 40.
* Felsteed: Can now be learned at level 20.
* Shadowflame: The angle of the cone effect on this ability was inadvertently very small, making it difficult to use. Its cone is now the same size as similar spells, such as Cone of Cold.
* Soulshatter cooldown reduced to 3 minutes, down from 5 minutes //This may give us time to use it twice. … but not likely.
* Talents
o Affliction
+ Pandemic: Now also increases the critical damage bonus of Haunt by 100%.
o Demonology
+ Fel Domination cooldown reduced to 3 minutes, down from 15 minutes. //… this will be very nice in BGs.
o Destruction
+ Empowered Imp: The warlock's critical hit chance is increased to 100%, up from 20% for the next spell cast after the Imp critically hits a target.
+ Fire and Brimstone: Reduced to 2/4/6/8/10% increased damage from Incinerate and Chaos Bolt on targets afflicted with Immolate, down from 3/6/9/12/15%.

Warriors

//Warriors happen.

User Interface

* The quest log is now double-paned for more easily viewing quest information. The list of all quests a player has will show in one pane, while the quest details of any highlighted quest will display in the next. //One less addon. It replaces my use of Doublewide.
* Character name auto-completion for the chat frame, pop-ups, and mail interface is now active
* Character names can now be colorized according to class in the chat frame. This feature can be enabled through the chat settings by right-clicking on a chat window.
* Casting bars under the target frame, focus frame and nameplates will now display as shielded if the cast cannot be interrupted.
* Druids will now be able to see their mana bars when shape-shifted.

Whatca doing? Huntering

I am frantically leveling my Horde hunter. After just leveling my drood you would think I would be done with leveling for a while. But not I.

Why...

Tabard of the Argent Dawn

That is right. I got it in my head that I MUST own one of these on a Horde also. So my highest Horde a level 39 Hunter, Moly, was picked. As of last night Moly dinged 47.

I am looking to get her in her 50s quickly. Some of the end quests for the Scourge Invasion start at 45 and some at 50. So that I don't have any problems I am aiming for beyond that. Primarily so that my friend will have less to worry about me aggroing the wildlife around me while he kills.

I highly recommend tourguide.

Maybe, Casual PvPer

Over a year ago I gave you my PvP honor kill counts. Lets update:

ThenNow
Hydrargyrum1447,528
Aurum4,21015,894
Iridium2,8086,785
Selenium1,1131,262
Artume01,869
Moly01,380
And a handful of alts with honor kills under one thousand. Actually every alt had honor kills.

I don’t think of myself as a PvPer.

*glares at the laughing people* Stop that. We can be casual raiders, why not casual PvPers.

Aurum has been on vacation for the last four months. (For those that care, her hair is green now.) Selenium has been relegated to Guild bank toon. She may have to come out of retirement for huntery goodness.

The skills needed in BGs and Arena are different. You can have a lot of success in BGs and none in Arena. I know that just in the 19 and 29 a spec can be faboo in BG and suck in Arena. Many people find the twink brackets as boring. I think they don’t know how to challenge themselves. Even more importantly they are not those that go back and analyze what they did in a fight to make themselves better.

I don’t have the time to put in the effort at max level PvP needed to be any good. Friends tell me that I am good. What I see is that I play for objectives. When I say Tower Point is mine, they know that it will be. When I say that Fel Reaver ruins is mine, it will be one of the lasts to be taken. (If you see me in-game those are the two places I will be. Come say hi.) I will work hard for my team. … which totally pisses off the “Just let them win.” players.

As for Arena, I do it for the fun. As soon as my ret pally friend wanted to try out his OPness in 3.0.2 we hit the rated games. I played Haunt. I played what I call a “squishy lock” and we still won lots of games. We even beat a ret pally/ret pally team! As we climbed higher than 1600 we started going up against Season 4 geared players. That was wild. I still do not understand why our personal rating is lower then team. At the end of the night I was under 1600 personal rating.

I don’t feel like it has changed…
Hydra does not PvP.

Quest for the Gold Medallion

Hydra (70 Lock):
The Gold Medallion... Remember I don’t PvP. If I don’t get it first, I never will go into battle. Anything but AV is horde dominated in the Emberstorm battlegroup. I hope to achieve some wins with my guild mates and friends. We run Alterac Valley and to fill in the wait time some Eye of the Storm. After winning four AVs in a row I had no Gold Medallion.

We were having fun killing in EotS. I was guarding Fel Reaver. One of the ladies I play with is a Priest healer. It was absolutely great. She would go help assault Bloodelf tower. When it got hot for her she would lead her assailants toward me at Fel Reaver. I would run down the ramp and they would run away. We were laughing so hard.

I am not kidding … hunter, druid, or rogue. It didn’t matter. Priest to Hydra. Running scared Horde. She would sit below me and drink up. Then off to heal again. This happened six times and we laughed each time.

[Priest] What did you do to the Horde Hydra to make them so scared of you??
[Hydra] I put on my angry lock face. grrr.

Sure enough Gold Medallion was mine after that win in EotS. Quite proud that is was not an AV.

Aurum (19 Rogue):
So you get a Gold Medallion for beating on Horde. You are kidding right? I beat on them in my sleep. Hydra said it may take a few games. Picked up a friend, capped three flags, and wiped off my blades after each honor kill. I have mail… look at that … a new tabard and a Gold Medallion.

Iridium (29 Hunter – Horde):
Received notes from Aurum about how easy she had it to achieve her medallion. If that is the case I shouldn’t have a problem. Was I wrong. Game after game it would be a frustrating loss or win with nothing but the tabard. So I called it a night.

Lets try this again. I have so much fun in there in Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin. What is different? Then it hit me. Apparently the horde responds to dingbat girl talk. *clears throat* I can like totally start doing that.

[Iridium] *squeal* I like absolutely love Precious.
Iridium huggles Precious.
[Iridium] Precious and I are like going mine. And you should TOTALLY help me.
[Iridium] But you know … only the cool ones. The rest should go LM and BS.

[Iridium] WooHoo! Go team. Everybody group hug!
Iridium hugs everyone.

*jumps up and down* I like so had a pet dragon in my mail. He is so cute I just want to cuddle wuddle him.

Molybdenum (37 Hunter - Horde):
I’m leveling here. I am trying to reach 70 sooner then later. A break for some battleground can be fit in. Well at least a game or two, because there are mines to be had and gold to be made. I am not geared for battle. We shall see how this goes.

Some gear would be nice to help with leveling. I think I shall get myself the Outrider’s Bow and build up some marks for gear. Now I just need a scope made.

Arathi Basin seems promising. Kitted Alliance around like puppets and enjoyed every moment of it. When the person next to me knew to change the flag while I kitted, I know we would win. There it was the Gold Medallion on the first game. Yea I am up to a few more to see if I can get the tabard.

To be continued by Iuncusia and introducing Artume…
