Rogue 19 Ranged Weapons Added

Throat Piercers were the best ranged weapon for 19 twinks for a long time. Then we were given the bind on account items, Charmed Ancient Bone Bow and Upgraded Dwarven Hand Cannon. With the release of 4.0.3a new low level quests and items were added.

For rogues at 19 we have a few added ranged slot choices. The Horde only quest Shore Leave in Azshara you can get the Bedlam Gun.
Ranged Gun
29 - 56 Damage Speed 2.80
+2 Agility
+2 Stamina
Equip: Increases your critical strike rating by 2 (1.86% @ L12).
Don’t fret! Ashenvale received some new quests. Both factions can do the quest Dread Head Redemption. This gets you the Bow of Ire.

My First Transfer

Molybdenum is now on Mal'Ganis. *fiddles with link on blog side bar to update information.* I was hesitant to transfer but something changed my mind… gold.

A few weeks ago a group of my Farstriders raiders not only left server but faction changed to Horde on Mal’ganis. At the time this happened I was distracted by RL things. So though I was sad they left, the less raiding was good for me. Figured I would worry about it when I got the chance. My chance is now...

They transferred. Friends have transferred before and went unnoticed by me. But these group of people are who I instanced with on a regular basis... multiple times a week regular basis.

My guild is now a few shy of a 25 man. So 25 progression will not be happening for a while.

Then the question of Husband and I transferring came up. Husband thought about it for 2 seconds and said “No”.

It was not the transferring servers that was holding him back but the switch to Horde. I am 99% sure if they did not switch to Horde but to only another sever we would have transferred with them.

Me? Hydra was first a Horde warlock. For those have read me a long time know, Hydra the Undead lock was leveled to around 4. I was told I was on the wrong faction. Under protest of the change, because my girlfriend wanted that long legs of the female Alliance, I rolled Gnome.

I could work with being Horde.

Deciding NOT to transfer our main toons has changed what we do in the game a lot. I was instancing or raiding 4-5 times a week. Now it is down to 1-2.

Husband and I have to decide what we want out of the game. He has chosen the reputation grind for The Insane. I have to make new friends.

Hydra now signs up for Tuesdays raids, which I may or may not get called in. I don’t mind being set out since I need no gear from those raids. I sign up if needed for class balance.

I have a set "PuG" 10 man TOC. If you have read me long enough you know I don’t really PuG. All the people in this group I have run with for a long while. We can clear the place in an hour or so. Most are alts or raiders that missed their main raids earlier in the week.

I need to figure out a raiding outlet for Hydra. If I could get at least one more set night I would be satisfied in that regard.

I have reminded guild that I have a decently geared Bear that is a good purple kitteh too. So maybe I can get a chance to tank something official soon.

I have also leveled Aurum a 29 warlock on Windrunner. *fiddles with side bar again* Aurum is now at the point of receiving runs for gear. A friend transferred a toon to Windrunner so he was a good minion and transferred a few thousand gold and enchants for me.

Renewed attention is being put on Moly.

One of the guys was transferring another toon. Then it hit me … he could be a good minion and transfer gold and goods for me too!!!

So we cut a deal.

Moly would get a realm transfer. On some conditions…
1) He would transfer 12,000 gold from Hydra to Moly. (FYI 20K is the max for level 80 for character transfer.)
2) He would transfer goods I wished to sell for more gold, Arctic Furs, Eternal Fires, and few enchanting mats.
3) He would do run troughs focused on Holiday events to get wait-for-me-at-level-80-epics, like the Headless Horseman Rings.

My part of the deal was I would level in a timely manner. That is no small promise. It has taken me two years to get Moly to level 72.

Some are not so excited about this transfer. I promise to take that into consideration too. (Notice how I was trying to completely change the subject.)That was everything that went into the decision for me to move Moly. But mainly it was the gold. Granted I already had 2,800 gold on Moly. But instant self fundage is better.

Side note… even with all the gold transferred off server the last two weeks, Hydra is still at over 60K gold.

Patch 3.2.2 No Warlock Changes

No warlock changes of note. So …meh.

Find full notes here. Here is my hacked up version.

General

*The Brood Mother Returns
After years of lurking in her lair battling the many brave adventurers who travelled from afar to challenge her, Onyxia returns stronger than before to commemorate World of Warcraft's five-year anniversary.
Onyxia has been scaled to offer new challenges to level 80 players and is now available for testing in 10- and 25-player modes.
Adjusted for modern raiding, but with the fundamental experience of fighting the Brood Mother still in effect, including the horrors of her Deep Breaths!
Onyxia will now drop level 80 item versions of some classic loot items from the level 60 encounter.
Brood of Onyxia, a very rare 310%-speed mount modeled after Onyxia herself will be available for the luckiest of challengers.

*Armor Penetration Rating: The amount of armor penetration gained per point of this rating has been reduced by 12%. //We knew this was coming. Why 12%, 13% was just too much? Sometimes wonder if actual math is involved.

PvP

Battlegrounds
Players level 11 and higher will now always see a daily Battleground quest, as the quest giver will only offer daily quests for a Battleground in which a player is eligible to participate according to level bracket (i.e. players levels 11-20 will always be offered a Warsong Gulch daily quest, while players levels 11-50 will be offered either an Arathi Basin or a Warsong Gulch daily quest, etc.). //Nice. So running a game could net some gold. Maybe my sporadic twinking will be more frequent.

Class X
[Stuff changed, but not for Warlocks]

Dungeons & Raids

*Shadowfang Keep
Wailing Guardsman: Screams of the Past will no longer have multiple applications on a target. Recast time has been increased. ///They were in there!! Why did they not increase the Shadowfang and Assassin’s Blade drop rates.

*Ulduar
Increased the cooldown on Immortal Guardians' Drain Life ability in the Yogg-Saron encounter.

Professions

*The blacksmiths of Orgrimmar grew tired of running to the rear of the city to craft items and have installed a new anvil & forge at the General Store in the Valley of Strength. //I wondered how this changes anything really. Might as well just put everything in the middle of the street.

*Engineering
The Mind Amplification Dish no longer changes the appearance of your helmet.

*Inscription
Added a recipe for Runescroll of Fortitude. This item grants a stamina buff equal to the highest rank of Power Word: Fortitude (untalented) to all players in the raid. The effect of this runescroll is exclusive with other stamina scrolls and Power Word: Fortitude.

*Leatherworking
Added a recipe for Drums of Forgotten Kings. These drums increase all stats by 8% for all players in a raid. The effect of these drums is exclusive with Blessing of Kings. //They don’t stack. Say it in plainly people.
Added a recipe for Drums of the Wild. These drums grant a buff equal to the highest rank of Mark of the Wild (untalented) to all players in a raid. The effect of these drums is exclusive with Mark of the Wild. //They don’t stack.

Items

The Black Heart: This item's animation has been changed and no longer resembles Hand of Protection. //Finally. BTW I Hydra has this…but druid doesn’t.

User Interface

Battleground Queuing

*Players may now only queue for no more than two Battlegrounds at a time. //What an odd change. Must be to reduce people not going into BGs when the one they want pops.
*The dialog box for entering a Battleground match has been changed to reflect the following options: "Enter Battle," "Leave Queue," and "Minimize." //rofl. Someone must have been cleaning up some things out of the suggestion box.
*The time a player has to enter a battle when selected has been reduced to 40 seconds when not already in a Battleground and 20 seconds when in a Battleground. //This is a nice thought. I wonder how that will work in combat. Since I don’t think you can leave at that time.
*Players already in a Battleground can now choose "Enter Battle" for a new Battleground under any circumstance (i.e. while dead, in combat, falling, etc.). //There you go. They are so smart they read my mind from the previous note.
*A new Battleground will not launch until the maximum number of players on each side are in the queue (i.e. 40 players per side for Alterac Valley). //This will be nice. Since I know I get into games where there are 8 vs. 13 right off the start.

Bug Fixes

Warlock

*Demonic Circle: This ability now correctly removes the snaring component of Frostfire Bolt.

*Fel Armor: This spell was unable to set off trinkets and other effects. That has been corrected.
When using Shadowbolt or Incinerate while having Backlash and Backdraft active, only Backlash will now be properly consumed.

*Coliseum Trinkets: Some spells that should have triggered these trinkets will now trigger them (such as Holy Nova and Fel Armor).

*Lightweave Embroidery: This tailoring item enhancement will no longer trigger from the periodic healing granted by the warlock spell Fel Armor. //Random proc is random.

Turning Off Experience

Turning off twink experience was the first thing I did when I logged into Aurum.

From 3.2 patch notes:
Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold.
To turn off ALL your experience points for a character you need to visit you faction specific NPC. Here is where to find them.

AllianceGo to the Stormwind War Room as you enter you will find Behsten just to the right. He is a stealthed human rogue in the corner. Talk to him and let him know “I no longer wish to gain experience”. This will turn off your experience for 10 gold.

If you want to turn experience back on, you respond to him “I wish to start gaining experience again.” After that you will start getting experience again.

HordeGo to the Orgrimmar War Room turn left when you get into the building. He is a stealthed undead rogue. Talk to him and let him know “I no longer wish to gain experience”. This will turn off your experience for 10 gold.

If you want to turn experience back on, you respond to him “I wish to start gaining experience again.” After that you will start getting experience again. You will notice that both Behsten and Slahtz are geared as 19 rogue twinks. A guildy and I made quick work identifying their gear: Green Tinted Goggles, Sentry Cloak, Serpent's Shoulders, Gloves of the Fang, Blackened Defias Armor, Deviate Scale Belt, Blackend Defias leggings, Feet of the Lynx, Assassin's Blade, Cruel Barb, and both weapons are enchanted with Lifestealing.
It actually took me a while to identify the life stealing enchant. It had been so long ago that I tested it. As a guild we recommend against that enchant because the proc rate is so bad at 19. We have done a lot of testing in the 19s.

While standing there inspecting Behsten’s gear I was able to see some of his emotes.A guildie was all excited about the turned off experience. He was able to finally level his skinning and even farm for the Prefect Deviate scales while waiting on queues to pop. He can even do some questing for the fun of it.

Also, I want to say thank you to MissB. He has been instrumental in creating www.FarstridersElite.com and keeping all the hot headed PvPers going. I also want to give him a very belated congratulation to having over 50,000 honor kills on a 19 twink. I feel privileged to have been a part of a few thousand of those. MissB is now over 50% on his way to the “of the Alliance” title.

Empty War Room

With all the battlemasters gone, the War Rooms feel very empty.

Patch 3.2 Hacked Up Notes

I don’t think I am the target audience for Blizzard. I watched the cinematic for Patch 3.2 Call of the Crusade. The cinematic looks great. Once it was done I realized it didn’t highlight anyone thing that I am looking forward to in this patch.

1) Twink only battles by turning off experience points.
2) Lifeblood doesn’t have GCD, again.
3) I get a purple Kitteh.

I rewatched it after reading the patch notes. Still nothing…

Here are the patch notes with only things I care about or thought funny. There is no reason for you to read these except in EXTREAM boredom. The full patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/.

Crusaders' Coliseum
//They added 6 new instances. Crusaders' Coliseum holds 5-man normal and heroic, 10-man normal and heroic, and 25-man normal and heroic.

Isle of Conquest
//a new BG was added. It is time to get your vehicle on 40 man style. The resources usage takes me back to Age of Mythology.

General
//Blah blah blah. There are other places to get this information, like the real patch notes.

* The Argent Tournament Expands
o All new Argent Crusader daily quests and rewards have been added for players with the Crusader title. Rewards include a new Argent Crusader banner and tabard (which can port players to the tournament grounds), a mounted squire (can periodically run bank, mail or vendor errands for the player), a paladin-exclusive Argent Crusader Charger mount and new heirloom items. //Hearth to tourney and I have been wanting a more useful slave child since I cannot put a leash on him.
* New Dungeon Loot Feature
o Players will now be able to trade soulbound items with other raid or group members that were eligible for the loot. This system will work like the Item Buy Back system and allow 2 hours for players to trade an item after it has been looted. Players who choose to enchant or add gems to the item will get one last confirmation before losing the ability to trade the item. // This is pure customer service win.
* New druid art for Cat Form and Bear Form has been added. There are now five unique color schemes for each form and faction. Changing hair color (night elves) or skin tone (tauren) via the barbershop will change the look of one's cat and bear forms. //PURPLE KITTEH NOW!!!! *lick*

PvP

* Arenas
o Beginning with season 7, players will no longer have access to the newest season's weapons or shoulder armor and will not qualify for the Gladiator title/rewards with ratings from the 2v2 bracket alone. Ratings obtained through 3v3 and 5v5 game play will be required for these rewards, while the rest of the newest season's items will remain available to players in all brackets (standard rating restrictions still apply). //I am going to be running Arenas this season. I was told there needs to be more warlocks in arena so I have been practicing. What have I learned? I was going to say “I’m a noob.” But I knew that already, mostly that Demonic Circle http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=48020 is your friend and Shadowfury http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=47847 is fun!
* Battlegrounds
o Battleground experience has arrived!
+ Players will now be awarded experience for completing objectives and actions that yield honor in Battlegrounds (honorable kills not included).
+ Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold. //TWINKS DO IT. This should be one of the first things you should do. I am going to do this with different toons to try it all out before Aurum sets foot into another BG.
+ Disabling experience gains will prevent a player from gaining experience through any means available in the game.
+ Players with experience gains turned off who compete in Battlegrounds will face off only against other players with experience gains turned off. //I like this a lot. I am still concern about the queue times. Time will tell us if it is bad or not.
+ Behsten and Slahtz can reinstate experience gains for players, for a 10 gold fee of course. Any experience that would've been accumulated if experience gains were enabled cannot be recovered. //The unrecoverable experience is a good thing. I had a flash of turning this off and months of exp popping up for the toon. *shiver*
o Battlemasters in major cities affiliated with specific Battlegrounds have been replaced with a Battlemaster for each faction that will allow players to queue for any Battleground. Battlemasters for specific Battlegrounds will still be seen around the cities during corresponding Battleground holiday weekends. //Less NPCs. I was just thinking though that the ones in Ironforge seemed to be having an intense meeting. Apparently they are done chatting it up.
o When standing at a capture point that you control, you will gain a buff called Honorable Defender. This buff grants +50% honor gained from kills. This currently affects Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm and Isle of Conquest.
o Arathi Basin
+ The time it requires to capture a base has been reduced to 8 seconds, down from 10 seconds.
+ The game now ends when one team reaches 1600 victory points, down from 2000.
o Eye of the Storm
+ The time it requires to capture the center flag has been reduced to 8 seconds, down from 10 seconds
+ The game now ends when one team reaches 1600 victory points, down from 2000.
o Strand of the Ancients
+ The faction starting on attack/defense will now be randomized at the start of each match.
o Warsong Gulch
+ There is a now a 20-minute timer on this Battleground. After that time, the team with the most flag captures wins. If this would result in a tie, the team that captured the first flag wins. If neither side has captured a flag, then the game ends in a tie.
* Wintergrasp //LOSERS! Take something that was so popular and f-uk it up. If these changes make it painful to do my fishing daily, I am putting in a help ticket. EVERY TIME.
o To provide players with a more transparent notification of when Wintergrasp battles occur, as well as better control zone population and stability, several changes have been made.
+ Players now have the option to queue for Wintergrasp from a Wintergrasp Battlemaster in any capital city or by simply entering the Wintergrasp zone.
+ Queuing will begin 15 minutes before each battle. If chosen, you will automatically be teleported to the zone. Any players in the zone who have not been chosen from the queue will be teleported out when the battle begins.
+ The queue system remains active for the entire battle. As soon as a player leaves, a new one will be chosen from the queue.
+ Trying to enter Wintergrasp during an active battle for which you have not been chosen will teleport you out. Please note that, as you are now able to fly over Wintergrasp, you will only be teleported out if you try to land and join the battle. //What about fishing f-ckers. This whole impeding my fishing is making me twitch.
+ Level 80 players get higher priority in the queue than lower level players. In addition, a random selection of queued players will be taken from both the Battlemasters and the zone itself.
+ The queue will accept up to 120 players from each faction, resulting in a maximum battle of 240 players at a time.
o Wintergrasp factories can no longer be damaged or destroyed.

Dungeons and Raids

* Dungeon and Raid ID Extensions //We will see how this goes. I think smaller guilds will benefit from this more.
* Emblem System Changes. //Yes. This is a good thing.
* The Nexus: The Oculus & The Eye of Eternity
o Drakes used by players in these instances will now scale in health and damage according to the rider's average item level. //YES. This may make up do our last achievements for heroic instances to get out drakes.
* Ulduar //Yogg-Saron changes. Which I would care about if we could poke at ‘em.
o Players can now use Blink, Shadowstep, and Demonic Teleport while participating in the illusion events in the Yogg-Saron encounter.

Items: General

* Agility: The amount of agility required per percentage of dodge has been increased by 15%.
* Dodge Rating: The amount of dodge rating required per percentage of dodge has been increased by 15%.
* Item Buy Back Feature Revised
o The Item Buy Back time will now expire if the player enchants or sockets an item. Players will see a confirmation dialog box now when they attempt to enchant or add gems to an item giving them a last chance to reconsider.
* Items with Triggered Effects: These items generally have cooldowns on how often they can be triggered. Those cooldowns are now triggered each time the item is equipped (example: A trinket has a 45-second cooldown on an effect triggered by player attacks; when a player equips that item, the effect will be unable to be triggered for the first 45 seconds it is worn).
* Mounts //I am sure you know riding skills changed. Go someplace else for details.
o Flying over Dalaran and Wintergrasp is now possible so long as players keep a healthy distance above the ground.
* Mana Regeneration: All items that provide "X mana per five seconds" have had the amount of mana they regenerate increased by approximately 25%.
* Resilience: No longer reduces the amount of damage done by damage-over-time spells, but instead reduces the amount of all damage done by players by the same proportion. In addition, the amount of resilience needed to reduce critical strike chance, critical strike damage and overall damage has been increased by 15%.

Classes: General

* All pets now receive 40% of their master's resilience and 100% of their master's spell penetration. In addition, if a player is at their appropriate spell hit chance or hit chance maximum, their pet will be at the maximum for spell hit chance, hit chance, and expertise. If they are below the maximum, their pet will be proportionately below those maximums. //Pet buff! But I am sure you had as much pet control as I did that your pet survivability was high already, correct? O.o
* Replenishment: This buff now grants 1% of the target's maximum mana over 5 seconds instead of 0.25% per second. This applies to all 5 sources of Replenishment (Vampiric Touch, Judgements of the Wise, Hunting Party, Enduring Winter Frostbolts and Soul Leech). //Replenishment nerf. What was once 0.25% per second is now 0.20% per second. A 20% reduction.
* Silence, Strangulate, Silencing Shot, and Arcane Torrent: These abilities will also apply a 3-second Interrupt effect against non-player controlled targets, making them more versatile against creatures immune to silencing effects. //Thinking the Gundrak mammoth interrupt achievement.

Death Knights

//My DK has been QQ about this for weeks and weeks. It is now here. I am now bracing myself for more QQ. I still like him anyway.
* Due to significant talent changes, all death knight talents will be reset for players.

Druids //PURPLE KITTEH.

* Enrage: This Bear Form ability now generates 20 rage initially, and 10 rage over the next 10 seconds. The armor penalty is unchanged.
* Flight Form: Can now be learned at level 60. Flight speed increased to 150%.
* Flight Form and Swift Flight Form: Now benefit from a paladin's Crusader Aura.
* Innervate: Duration reduced to 10 seconds, and cooldown reduced to 3 minutes. This means each use of Innervate will give half as much mana as before, but it will be available twice as often.
* Mangle: Ranks 4 and 5 base points reduced by about 11%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Rake: Ranks 6 and 7 base points on initial and periodic damage reduced by about 7%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Rip: Ranks 8 and 9 base points and points per combo point reduced by about 6%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Savage Defense: The animation for gaining this buff will no longer make the bear stand upright
* Shred: Ranks 8 and 9 base points reduced by about 10%. Scaling from attack power unchanged.
* Swift Flight Form: Druids who have acquired a mount able to go 310% flight speed will now also go that speed while in this form. //That is a very cool change. And unexpected. Not that I have one.
* Swipe (Cat): Percent of weapon damage done reduced from 260% to 250%.
* Travel Form: Can now be learned at level 16.
* Talents
o Balance
+ Balance of Power: Now reduces all spell damage taken by 3/6%, rather than reducing the chance to be hit by spells by 2/4%.
o Feral Combat
+ King of the Jungle: This talent now reduces the mana cost of Bear Form, Cat Form, and Dire Bear Form by 20/40/60%.
+ Primal Tenacity: This talent no longer reduces the mana cost of Bear Form, Cat Form, and Dire Bear Form.
o Restoration
+ Empowered Touch: Now also increases the amount of bonus healing effects for Nourish by 10/20%.
+ Improved Barkskin: No longer provides dispel resistance to all effects on the druid, but now reduces the chance your Barkskin is dispelled by an additional 35/70%.

Hunters

* Aspect of the Cheetah: Can now be learned at level 16. //Yummy. Cheetah running hunters for Aurum’s blades.
* Traps now have separate 30-second cooldown categories: Fire (Immolation Trap, Explosive Trap and Black Arrow), Frost (Freezing Trap, Frost Trap) and Nature (Snake Trap). A hunter can have one trap of each category placed at one time.

Mages

* Mirror Image: Images will no longer trigger the death sound when their time expires. //*sniffles* I will miss all the dead mages.

Paladins

//Lots of Pally stuffs. As we all know, each patch is like pallies getting a whole new class to play.

Priests

//Priests happen.

Rogues

* After much quiet contemplation, rogues now possess the ability to learn how to use one-handed axes. //They get new toys.
* Talents
o Combat
+ Sword Specialization: This talent is now called Hack and Slash and applies to axes as well as swords.
o Subtlety
+ Shadow Dance: Cooldown reduced to 1 minute. Now lasts 6 seconds, down from 10 seconds.

Shamans

* A customizable totem bar will now be available for shamans allowing the storing of 4 different totems. These totems can be placed on the ground at once in one global cooldown for the combined mana cost of all 4 totems.
* Ghost Wolf: Can now be learned at level 16. While in this form, snaring effects may not bring the shaman below base normal run speed. //This is going to suck at 19. With Shammies, hunters, and druids getting speed increase it will complete change the different roles in the WSG game.

Warlocks

* Banish: Effect will now be cancelled if Banish is recast on a banished target. //Which is great… if you was not trying to re-banish. Even more reason for you to pay attention to when your banish breaks.
* Dreadsteed: Can now be learned at level 40.
* Felsteed: Can now be learned at level 20.
* Shadowflame: The angle of the cone effect on this ability was inadvertently very small, making it difficult to use. Its cone is now the same size as similar spells, such as Cone of Cold.
* Soulshatter cooldown reduced to 3 minutes, down from 5 minutes //This may give us time to use it twice. … but not likely.
* Talents
o Affliction
+ Pandemic: Now also increases the critical damage bonus of Haunt by 100%.
o Demonology
+ Fel Domination cooldown reduced to 3 minutes, down from 15 minutes. //… this will be very nice in BGs.
o Destruction
+ Empowered Imp: The warlock's critical hit chance is increased to 100%, up from 20% for the next spell cast after the Imp critically hits a target.
+ Fire and Brimstone: Reduced to 2/4/6/8/10% increased damage from Incinerate and Chaos Bolt on targets afflicted with Immolate, down from 3/6/9/12/15%.

Warriors

//Warriors happen.

* For additional notes on Lua and XML changes please visit the UI & Macros forum.

Graphics

* The frame rate for those with Shadow Effects enabled under the Ultra Video settings has been improved.

World Environment

* Wolvar and Gorloc orphans have arrived in Dalaran and need your help! Players can find out more by visiting the Eventide District (completing the quests being offered for this event will not count toward any Children's Week achievements). Players have a limited amount of time to care for these orphans before they take their leave. They will then return again for the regularly-scheduled Children's Week next year. //Wait … I know I killed those Wolvar pups already.
* Portal areas in all major cities now offer a portal to the Blasted Lands near the Dark Portal. //I WANT A PORTAL FROM SHATT TO NORTHREND.
* Once crossing through the Dark Portal, players can access a flight path directly from the Stair of Destiny to Shattrath.
* A new zeppelin docking ramp has been added to Thunder Bluff allowing Horde players easier transport to and from Orgrimmar.
* The local Postal Service has grown tired of walking so far each day to collect mail and has decided to install a large number of new mailboxes in Stormwind, Undercity, Darnassus and Orgrimmar.
* Mathiel in Darnassus has finally earned himself enough money from your repair bills that he was able to buy himself an anvil.

Quests

* The ravasaur trainer Mor'vek has returned to Un'Goro and will offer to help Horde players raise and train a Venomhide Ravasaur as a mount... if they can survive the creature's deadly poison.

* Alchemy
o All stackable potions now stack to 20. //More bag space.
o Added a new pattern for Flask of the North, usable by players with a high alchemy skill. The recipe is purchased from Northrend trainers. Flask of the North increases your spell power, attack power or strength for 1 hour and is usable in Arenas. It is not consumed when used. //They took their potions but added a flask for arenas.
o Endless Healing Potion and Endless Mana Potion no longer usable in arenas. Amount of health and mana has been increased, and the cooldown reduced.

Goblin in the Gulch

Gavlon over at Greedy Goblin was playing 19s Warsong Gulch. He was looking at players behavior while trying to complete objectives. It was a good assessment.

All of his talk about time and gold. I was shocked that they spent time on the Furbolg Medicine Pouch. That is a reputation grind and can be only bought at honored. Many a druid I have helped with that grind and it is not a small feat.

He also leveled engineering for his priest for the head piece. He could have stopped at getting the Shadow Goggles. Particularly since he was dedicated enough to go fishing. The idea that Gavlon was fishing for the fishing hat sends me into giggle fits.

There are other … ok lots of things… that would have been better and ultimately cheaper. All of you that actually know twink gear stick to the spirit of the exercise. Everyone else, they are geared enough, just not my definition of a twink.

It only takes three people to easily control the game, two to be annoying.

With three you have one to carry the flag, one to defend, and one to float from the two to help where the apposing team is strongest.

From the beginning all I wanted was two others in team that would listen and KNOW how to play. The other seven in the game can be a pack, that kills in the middle, runs in a mob, and basically runs in circle chanting “Red is dead.” Ultimately, using Gavlon’s term being M&S**.

The most important tool in a battleground is your zone minimap. I feel like it is so important it is on my side bar Zone Map = Shift + M.

The M&S will tell you where the Horde is and as a flag carrier you can attempt to avoid them. The M&S will also tell you if the apposing team is going ramp or GY. The idea that you would get this information from actual BG chat is lolable. Twinks have macros for this, M&S don't know it is important information.

Also the “stall” in game he talks about is called a Turtle. Turtle is where the one team just defends in their base. I don’t have the patience anymore for the epic two and a half hour turtles. Granted with the debuff long games are at least a reduced possibility.

Not once did you see me say I needed "three GEARED to the teeth players". Nope, it is about knowing what you are doing that is more important. The ability to react to the information given to win.

It is good to see new people starting up twinks and running them. I am looking forward to being able to turn off experience and only fighting twinks. I may actually want to run games more then once a month.

**For those that don’t read the Greedy Goblin, M&S = Moron and Slacker.

Twink Experience /vanish

From the Initial 3.2 Patch notes:

Battleground experience has arrived!
* Players will now be awarded experience for completing objectives and actions that yield honor in Battlegrounds (honorable kills not included).
* Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold.
* Disabling experience gains will prevent a player from gaining experience through any means available in the game.
* Players with experience gains turned off who compete in Battlegrounds will face off only against other players with experience gains turned off.
* Behsten and Slahtz can reinstate experience gains for players, for a 10 gold fee of course. Any experience that would’ve been accumulated if experience gains were not turned off cannot be recovered.

This is fantastic! This patch will bring us a lot of change to our games.

First, for 10G you can now grind instances for drops for no experience. You can also explore while waiting for queues with no experience.

I still question if no experience will also go for quests. Doing the STV quests to finish the quest Big Game Hunter for the bow/gun for 29 Hunters is a challenge. If you don't get any experience for quests this will make it EXTREMELY easy for 29s to complete. (Then there is Holiday quests, BG daily quests, and Reputation quests! Lots of options would come for bored twinks.)

Then, separating those who are twinks from those who just want to level, we will have to see. My first reaction is "YES! GET THE FODDER OUT OF MY WSG." I look for the twink vs. twink battles and this will ensure that it happens. It will be much easier to have premade groups match up.

I actually see this as bad for the person leveling. Your queues will now depend on 9 of your faction and 10 of the opposite to queue for your bracket. Currently on a bad day the queue can be 20-30 minutes in the Emberstorm battlegroup. We can only hope that the lure of experience in the BGs will make more people queue.

I initially thought you are now separating those who know the game objective and don't. I can hope that there are enough people leveling alts that this will not be true. Sadly you will also not get a chance to be exposed to twinks in both good and bad scenarios. Not realizing there is a difference.

Overall, I do think separating the twinks vs those that are leveling is a good thing.

Last, those that do like to battleground can level. I actually have a friend who hates leveling with hot poker in the eyes. Now he can go dawdle in WSG, AB, EOTS, AV, and the new battleground. Just maybe he will make it to 80 by the time a new expansion comes out.

I will recommend that anyone who does have twinks wait to run battlegrounds after the patch. I will take a low level alt out into the BG with experience turned off. Testing this on the LIVE realms once launched is a must. The idea that one of my twinks gets leveled because something was wrong with the new system would be so very depressing. So be warned.

DING! Aurum Turns 20

I think I may have just given some good friends a heart flutter. *grin* Not in a good way either.

No worries, the Aurum that gained a level and a half was on the Public Test Realm (PTR). This was the first time I have ever taken the time to fully download and play in the PTR. This was not because of Ulduar, but because of all the warlock and twink changes contained in 3.1.

So after messing with gear and enchants I realized I had some time to kill... so lets go kill something. Where does a fully geared twink rogue go on the PTR??

DEADMINES!!!

So PTR Aurum went to solo Deadmines. It was huge amounts of fun.

Rhahk’Zor and his two watchmen didn’t give me much trouble. Sap, gouge, kill, win. I did have a moment of worry when I realized that the big boss ogre was hitting me harder then I liked. At that moment I remembered I had pots.
On the way to Sneed I hit level 20. Honestly it freaked me out. I actually had a moment where I had to calm myself that I was on the PTR and that real Aurum is safely still level 19.5.Then I arrived at Sneed’s Shredder and Sneed’s room. I had to clear out the room one goblin at a time. Soloing was a bit of a pain because the goblins do an axe throw which stuns you. This prevented me from getting a good line of sight pull. I did die on a few miss-pulls.

But once I got to Sneed it was easy. Truth, I had the entire time pulling the room to figure on a strategy to deal with the robot and then Sneed. The robot was not gouge-able, so I did lose time there. Hey how was I to know you cannot stun lock a robot. *shesh*That was all I had time for since Hydra had to go clear some 25-man Naxx place. What a noob. Don’t you know soloing Deadmines is where it is at!

[Apply Patch Here]

If patch 3.1 came out today I don't know about it yet. I'm at work. If it came out great, if not that is great too.

Another random thing I confirmed on the PTR was that the Wintergrasp portal in Dalaran really doesn't let low level toons through it now. Particularly level 19 rogues who wanted to take a stab at a Death Knight.

[Aurum] /y HOLDING ME BACK!!!
[Hydra] You really should not be in Wintergrasp in the first place.
[Aurum] Who gives a sh!t about what I SHOULD do. They were just skared I was on my way. Whah Whah Big cry babies I say.
[Hydra] Who are "they"?
[Aurum] The elementals. Do you know how much eternal fires go on the Auction House??!!!
[Hydra] I don't believe you.
[Aurum] So maybe I was going for a little Horde DK action on the side. They are just skared.
[Aurum] /y Who's OP now B!tche$ the one with the biggest Nerfbat. *unintellagable yelling at portal*

Twink Changes 3.1 More

BBB recently told how to uber your alt using the Greater Inscription of the Gladiator. This was also a twink item. As of 3.1 that enchant is no longer useful for characters under level 70. So the enchant will not kick in until level 70. You will still be able to use the nice account bound shoulders but not the enchant.

A big issue I had was the Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots now have a level requirement. *sniffles* Bye bye to my Cat Swiftness enchant. On the PTR once I unequipped them I was no longer able to use the boots.

I was having trouble on the PTR on seeing enchants that I didn't have through an enchanter link. So was unable to see anything else. Any new twinks being made really should have done research enough to know changes were happening and to wait until 3.1 was upon us.

Another change is that the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth and the Motorcycle will no longer be classified as vehicles. Which no longer lets you into Underground Ironforge. So I went down and visited.

Twink Changes 3.1

Where 2.4 gave us a few items and changed a few other things, the content patch 3.1 will be modifying a lot of key gear augments.

Prior to 3.1, twink pants were build around placing Outland armor kits on Bind on Equip with a level 60 or higher toon. That is no more.

Some items are being changed so that they will only work on a toon at a SPECIFIC LEVEL or above. It will no longer be the level requirement of the item or the level of the toon putting on the augment. This includes leg kits, some enchants, and librums.

Is this a “NERF TWINKS”?

I don’t see it that way. Twinking is about having the best gear and augments available. The most important piece though is to have the skill to go with them. The change in 3.1 will not change twinking. It will only change how we twink.

The rules change, we adapt.

A scrub is a scrub.

A twink is only a twink if you have the skill to back up your enchants.

"Old-school” Twinks

I remember the day when white shoulders were an option for rogue twinks.

I remember when fishing gear was rare on a 19.

I remember not being in a twink guild.

I remember Legging of the Fang.

I remember farming leg kit mats.

I remember the thousands of gold I have made on twink pants.

I remember when I didn’t have tokens in my mail after every WSG game.

I remember studying a premade, watching how skillfully they backed each other up on the field.

I remember telling people “just give me two, maybe three people and WSG will be ours.”

I remember when I watched players moves and skill, learning to weed out the morons and the real players.

I remember the first whisper of someone coming over to say “great game”.

I remember the first whisper of someone coming over to say “l2play.”

I remember when Rumsey Rum Black Label had to be fished and was a treat.

I remember showing people how to go to the Old Hillsbrad instance to get rum.

I remember when the trash talk in the forum made people quit.

I remember my anger over having, yet again, consoling someone over what a forum troll.

I remember being in the middle of drama after drama … but somehow not being burned, a skill itself.

I remember defining Graveyard Camping.

I remember having /dance parties in the Horde flag room with Horde.

I remember buying my Shadowfang.

I remember that I have forgotten more than these new twinks remember.

I remember playing for the same joy today as I did then.

*shakes fist*

This “old-school” twink rogue can still keep up in damage with hunters. I can protect my flag carrier while doing it too.

I can do all of this while figuring out where I keybound my stealth.

Hydra Talks on TNB

…and talks and talks and talks.

I am on this weeks Twisted Nether Blogcast Episode 28. You can get the podcast here. Download the mp3 and you can hear me chatting with Bre and Fim.

Yes, Husband burnt his finger on the match to light his tea light.

“Good” tanks refer to why I don’t pug. When My Healer pulls aggro off the the tanks secondary target, the whispers start. When My Healer tells me “when” I call the group and have no problems doing it. Thank goodness this was a PuG tank. We think it was an account sharing issue.

Yes, I realize I refer to people as mine, My Tank, My Healer, My guildie, My Rogue… didn’t you realize you are my minions.

After the interview I took pictures of where I play. You can see the world of geekdom that I live in.
I also want to thank all the people who ignored me when I told them I was nervous and not going to be entertaining. You were no help at all. I appreciate that.

Red to Green Winter Clothes

Met up with a fine Horde lock friend Oathbreaker… he was on Alliance side… which was odd. It came down to this…

Red Winter Clothes are crafted by Alliance tailors.
Green Winter Clothes are crafted by Horde tailors.

So he was in the hunt for Red Winter Clothes to smuggle to Horde side through the goblins.

I REFUSED! I refused to have him pay AH prices for something I could make easy. Luckily I had time right then since I wiggled myself out of running heroics for a bit. (Something about a “NO!” *refuse invite*.)

So the swap was for 1 Green Winter Clothes for every 1 Red Winter Clothes.

Easy enough.Sometimes I am not so hot with the quick simple math. But even I can immediately tell that a few are missing. He said he was out of the runecloth.

TWINK FAIL. Runecloth should always be in stock at large quantities for bandages.

*sniffle* That poor little mage. Surviving a brutal attack by a rogue to be only pew pewed by a hunter 4 seconds later… All because he didn’t have a bandage. *sniffle cry* ...Oh well.

I expect to have 4 Green Winter Clothes in my mail sooner then later. But maybe I should not trust someone who calls themselves… Oathbreaker.

Iridium Comes Out to Play

This is why I am Horde (sometimes)...

I met some new guys on vent, they were friends with one of my guildies. Even with me in the channel there was talk of hookers, getting laid, chicks, drinking, and more I am sure. I was less then half paying attention, Hydra was working on tailoring and I was doing math to calculate how many eternals needed, which type, cost, etc.

My guildie whispered me and profusely apologized for the vent chat. I told him I was a big girl. If I cared, I can go to another channel or turn it off. It was entertaining. Not a big deal at all. I am made of stronger stuff then that.

Something finally caught my attention in Vent. Warsong Gulch. The 20 bracket. There was the typical epeening comments.

[Me] What game you guys are in?
[Them] WSG 1
[Me] Score? *reviews where all the abilities are keybound*
[Them] *ding* We have just capped our second flag.
[Me] Nice. *queues* Sounds like a good game.
[Them] We are just swarming them.
[Me] Oh. I just got into game. Excellent.
[Me] So who is who out here?
[Them] *proceeds to tell me*

First job was to return the flag. Fix this stale mate. *ding*
Second, it was to tie up the game by kiting. *flag cap*
Next, it was to show these boys that this was a big kids game. Kill them all! *clears path for FC*
Lastly, it was to win. *evil grin*
Iridium has earned the achievement [Warsong Gulch]

[Me] I sure am rusty. Thanks for the practice guys.

[Them] You were that Hunter. I killed you!
[Me] Yes. Yes, you did. You and three others were kited to the far Alliance ramp side. Behind the fence even. I watched the Horde flag carrier on my map run off the Alliance graveyard. If I killed you, there was a potential you could chase him down. Soooooo... Good job killing me.

Fun times. *Iridium heads back to cavorting with other Horde*

Random Things & NaBloPoMo Year 2

So I did NaBloPoMo last year. It has been a whole year!

Well I am still blogging and I still have stuff to say. I only post a tiny bit of my thoughts because... well... some of it I just not okay for the general public. I'm a warlock. Some things should not be written about.

Some random things for today...

Two twinks I know leveled because of the vile experience from the candy buckets.

In 3 farming runs for void crystals husband and my two other main enchanters have 90 voids. That is EACH. That is over 270 void crystals.

Aurum ran some WSG games with some old friends. There was three to five us in a group. We won every game. We beat the 7 minute game marker twice in a row. There is a difference between players who know how to play and who know how to WIN.

Blizzard fixed the achievement where you do the fishing daily five days in a row and you get the 5 Daily Quests achievement. Since this is the only daily Hydra does I know it got fixed. *grin*

Aurum and my warlock alt Curie had to dress up as Ratter. Primarily because Hydra's Orc mask vanished before the screanshots could be taken. opps.

Drood went to Kara. I tanked. More to be posted on that.

I don't think I will reach my goal of 25K gold prior to expansion. A drood needed her epic flying skill. I still have to run the heroic.

I want my zombies back. /pout

Maybe, Casual PvPer

Over a year ago I gave you my PvP honor kill counts. Lets update:

ThenNow
Hydrargyrum1447,528
Aurum4,21015,894
Iridium2,8086,785
Selenium1,1131,262
Artume01,869
Moly01,380
And a handful of alts with honor kills under one thousand. Actually every alt had honor kills.

I don’t think of myself as a PvPer.

*glares at the laughing people* Stop that. We can be casual raiders, why not casual PvPers.

Aurum has been on vacation for the last four months. (For those that care, her hair is green now.) Selenium has been relegated to Guild bank toon. She may have to come out of retirement for huntery goodness.

The skills needed in BGs and Arena are different. You can have a lot of success in BGs and none in Arena. I know that just in the 19 and 29 a spec can be faboo in BG and suck in Arena. Many people find the twink brackets as boring. I think they don’t know how to challenge themselves. Even more importantly they are not those that go back and analyze what they did in a fight to make themselves better.

I don’t have the time to put in the effort at max level PvP needed to be any good. Friends tell me that I am good. What I see is that I play for objectives. When I say Tower Point is mine, they know that it will be. When I say that Fel Reaver ruins is mine, it will be one of the lasts to be taken. (If you see me in-game those are the two places I will be. Come say hi.) I will work hard for my team. … which totally pisses off the “Just let them win.” players.

As for Arena, I do it for the fun. As soon as my ret pally friend wanted to try out his OPness in 3.0.2 we hit the rated games. I played Haunt. I played what I call a “squishy lock” and we still won lots of games. We even beat a ret pally/ret pally team! As we climbed higher than 1600 we started going up against Season 4 geared players. That was wild. I still do not understand why our personal rating is lower then team. At the end of the night I was under 1600 personal rating.

I don’t feel like it has changed…
Hydra does not PvP.

Pet Families for your Existing Twink

If you have been living in a cave let me tell you something. Hunter pets have changed. No more loyalty. No more in the wild ability training. No more loyally points. Yes to reduced experience for pet to level. Yes to pet talent points. To top it off we get two more stable slots.

The result? I need more pets on my hunters.

My hunter focus is PvP... well yea they are Twinks (or twinkish). I battleground with objectives. Arena skirmishes are just to fill in the queue times. So I focus on CC abilities and useful kiting skills. For an existing twink the pet must already be max level, 19 or 29, to be tamed. What choices do I have?

Level 19:
Hunters at level 19 do not get any pet talent points.
  • Serpent - Poison Spit, Cunning
  • Spider – Web, Cunning
  • Wind Serpent – Lightning Breath, Cunning
  • Carrion Bird – Demoralizing Screech, Ferocity
  • Cat – Rake, Ferocity
  • Hyena – Tendon Rip, Ferocity
  • Raptor – Savage Rend, Ferocity
  • Tallstrider – Dust Cloud, Ferocity
Pet families that you would have to level up for 19: Boars, Scorpids, Turtles, Bats, Birds of Pray, Dragonhawks, and Ravagers.

Level 29:
Hunters at level 29 will have three pet talent points.
  • Spider – Web, Cunning
  • Wind Serpent – Lightning Breath, Cunning
  • Cat – Rake, Ferocity
  • Hyena – Tendon Rip, Ferocity
  • Raptor – Savage Rend, Ferocity
  • Bear – Swipe, Tenacity
Pet families that you would have to level up for 29: Boars, Crab, Crocolisk, Scorpids, Turtles, Carrion Bird, Tallstrider, Wolf, Bats, Birds of Pray, Dragonhawks, Ravagers, and Serpent.

Without pet talent points at 19, I feel it is even more important to make sure your pet is at maximum level. As a twink you should show up with the best. It looks like there are not many color options but there is a lot of family options.

At 19 you do get the family special abilities. With prowl as one of the cat abilities, it is not likely a strong choice in WSG with so many other options. I like the possibilities of the Wolves’ Furious Howl now being a raid wide ability. The attack power would benefit every rogue in 45 yard area. Hyenas’ Tendon Rip with the movement speed reduction…maybe fun times.

At 29 you get fewer choices for an existing twink. I already see a lot of Wind Serpents and are still a good choice. Hyenas maybe another great choice here. Raptors’ Savage Rend maybe a great choice for combating those vanishing rogues.

Your choices depend on how you play and if you are in a premade. I enjoy playing my hunters. My goals in BGs are to occupy multiple enemies while a teammate caps and turns flags. Not to kill enemies to come back at full health/mana. So many will argue with my first choices.

...but...Have you ever left a Mage with no mana and under 20% health alive? Good times. *grin*

Have pet slots must fill!

Bandage Rogue

Twinks in the 19 and 29 bracket can train in First Aid up to 225. Thus only learning up to Mageweave Bandages.

With 225 first aid you can actually use Heavy Runecloth Bandage. You want to use the biggest bandages you can to get yourself back and ready to fight.

Any twink rogue worth their weight in enchants knows how to gouge and bandage themselves while the stun ticks. You will get 250 health back from each successful tick of the bandage. Trust me... this is a duel decider.

If you see someone using a bandage in battleground, interrupt the process. What is that QQ I hear... To far? I'm melee! /cry *smaks you upside the head* You don’t just equip those Throat Piercers for looks. Throwing weapons are meant to be thrown.

I will sometimes keep Runecloth Bandages around too. Since sometime I pick them up cheep off the AH when someone was leveling their own first aid. Good for when I know the next wave of Horde are coming. Or in a strange generous moment to give out in a battle.

With all the stuff I keep in my bags … uggg…. I ran out of food. But that is a whole different issue.
