I pulled out my always there PvP soapbox the other day on Twisted Nether Podcast. Individuals have to put as much effort into PvP to be good at it as those who PvE… maybe even more.
And sometimes … I am smacked in the forehead on why this is true.
(Yes, Faid I was not in game at the time I am spying on you from the Rogue’s computer.)

Rogue 19 Ranged Weapons Added
Throat Piercers were the best ranged weapon for 19 twinks for a long time. Then we were given the bind on account items, Charmed Ancient Bone Bow and Upgraded Dwarven Hand Cannon. With the release of 4.0.3a new low level quests and items were added.
For rogues at 19 we have a few added ranged slot choices. The Horde only quest Shore Leave in Azshara you can get the Bedlam Gun.
For full twink rogue gearing a great resource is ShadowPanther.net.
Please… PLEASE… PLEASE remember that you MUST turn off your experience before doing these quests.

Spontaneous Achievement
I wrote this about a year ago, somewhere before you could turn off experience for twinks and just after Wrath was released. . I found it while going though my blog stuff. I don’t think I ever post it for you. … Why? I have no idea. Sadly my friend has transferred but I still have the memory.
I was thinking of my favorite achievement I have ever earned.
I have Horde friends in the Emberstorm battlegroup. On Aurum I always had the habit of checking the teams. I look to see if there are potential premades or a disproportion of one class. This lets me prep my own strategies.
On Hydra not so much…
After 3.0 came out I was doing some level 70 Alterac Valley. I would wait until it was the PvP daily and complete it for the extra honor.
I left the Alliance cave and charged to Tower Point. I just passed Belinda’s building and before me Horde and Alliance decided to engage. I was quickly dragged off my mount.
Amazingly in this little skirmish the Alliance had the upper hand. I would like to say it was because I was there… so I will. I start dotting, then I targeted a Blood Elf Pally (yummy pally flavor).
It is him!
I started chattering on vent how cool it was that my friend was in AV with me. He runs twinks on another server and our mains were having a face off in AV.
As any good friend... I kill him. Selecting his corpse I type /hug because he is my friend and I just killed him.
Make Love, Not Warcraft
I admit that I started excitingly ramble on vent (they didn’t care). I checked the BG roster and sure enough it was him.
A little bit later he returned the favor with a /hug and got the same achievement on me!!
Complete surprise and a lot of fun.

Blue Ribbon
I have been totally behind in keeping you updated. If you noticed there were a lot of silences the last few months. That does not mean I don’t have things to TELL you. I think of things all the time… just don’t get a chance to write it to you. I have no plans on making that better.
Most of those I play with have no issue with gold.
Husband has some funny ideas about Warlocks.
I always thought kilts were shorter. If you don’t know the reference here is a WoW adaptation.
I like to point out with my “less” gear I can out dps the other lock at times because I can get bored in raid and he is funny.
It is not so easy to solo a boss that calls adds and likes to ice tomb somebody. But I wanted the black roses!!
This has to be the funniest thing ever in raid chat. The guild is called Night Shift for a reason. I call this bit “Gear Porn”.
I love arena ties. Watching that mage crit me was only as sweet as all my dots going off at once.
A month later it is still not a dress.
Sometimes you need to ask an accuser to clarify. I get away with a lot of things but there is so much to choose from he needs to be specific.
I like this boss view of Hydra’s shadow bolt. So you should like it too, ‘cause I said too.
A friend closed account got hacked into a few months ago. Of course they took everything. I forgot his DK was in my horde guild with guild bank access. So here is "everything":
Arcane Crystal x4
Gold Ore x10
Heavy Stone x60
Mithril Ore x60
Silver Ore x16
Star Ruby x2
Truesilver Ore x4
… but left the linen cloth and solid stone. They didn’t think it was worth anything either.

Patch 3.3.2 - More Lock Buffs
This maybe the last of the lock buffs for a while. I have been shocked by the ones we have been getting.Maybe I shouldn't be, but I am waiting for the stick.
With the start of Season 8 the rewards for Season 7 Arena should be out. I wonder what title I will be getting? I was informed that old pvp titles are removed and new ones replaces them. So you don’t get to accumulate them like in PvE. Not sure of the accuracy of this. Still it will pretty cool for a while.
The latest patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/ or over at MMO-Champion.
Dungeons & Raids
Halls of Stone
* Brann Bronzebeard has been getting into shape and now feels comfortable walking faster when escorted. //Win!
The Forge of Souls
* The Devourer of Souls will now cast Mirrored Souls less often. //Nerf brought to you by the nub pug near you.
* The Spell Reflect ability has been altered on several creatures. It now has a cast time, only has 2 charges, and has a 75% chance of reflecting spells. // Admittedly … I cannot see the reflect shield, I have my window scrolled back far. It is almost guaranteed that I will try to kill myself. I have seen me have all 4 dots on myself before realizing it.
The Nexus
* Anomalus will now use the Create Rift ability only once, down from 3 times. //Which will make getting the Chaos Theory achievement for this boss much easier.
The Old Kingdom
* Elder Nadox now only gets one Ahn'Kahar Guardian during the encounter. //How much are we nerfing the heroic instance bosses for bad pugs? They will never learn. I wish there was actually a boss ability description. Like a tip before a boss fight in your chat frame. /sigh They will never learn.
* Jadoga Shadowseeker now only ascends once during the encounter. //Boooooooring
* Several enemies between the Befouled Terrace and The Desecrated Altar have been removed or had their pathing altered. //How funny is it to watch a mage die from standing in Flame Strike. Good times.
Pit of Saron
* Players can now zone back into the instance if they are dead while encounters with Krick and Ick or Forgemaster Garfrost are in progress. //Stop standing in stuffs so you don’t die. Or be at melee as a healer. /facepalm
Utgarde Pinnacle
* Skadi the Ruthless can now be removed from his drake with 3 harpoon strikes, down from 5. //Boooooring
* Svala Sorrowgrave now casts Ritual of the Sword 1 time during the encounter, down from 3. //So this is actually good for me. I have this tendency to .. umm… after the boss is killed… umm… stand under the big black sword. It kills me of course. It is just mesmerizing to me.
Vault of Archavon
* Toravon, the latest boss to join the Vault's giants and masters of the elements, is now accepting challengers in 10- and 25-player formats. // A reason to go to Vault. Nice. Though. If you actually need the lesser gear in here, no one wants to kill the other bosses.
The Violet Hold
* The time between a boss being defeated and a new portal opening has been decreased. // Less time to go AFK
PvP
Arenas
* Season 8 has officially begun featuring all-new rewards. //Season 7 I should have gotten an Arena Title!! I wonder what it will be.
Warlock
Affliction
* Shadow Embrace: This effect can now stack up to 3 times, up from 2. However, the periodic healing reduction effect has been reduced from 3/6/9/12/15% to 2/4/6/8/10% per application. //For the math impaired. old max and new max healing effect was not changed. But damage is now 3/6/9/12/15% per talent point. This may change your initial boss rotation to ensure 3 stacks are on before throwing up your dots. SB>SB>Haunt>start dots.
Demonology
* Demonic Pact: The damage bonus granted the warlock by this talent has been increased from 1/2/3/4/5% to 2/4/6/8/10%. The buff granted to a raid or party by this talent remains unchanged.
Destruction
* Conflagrate: The damage-over-time effect of Conflagrate has been increased to 40% of the spell's total damage, up from 20%.

* Improved Shadow Bolt: Damage done by Shadow Bolt increased by 2/4/6/8/10%, up from 1/2/3/4/5%. //Most PvE specs have this ... More SB damage is always a good thing.
User Interface
* The party leader is now referred to as Guide in chat when a group is formed via the Dungeon Finder. //Really was this change needed?
* Fixed a bug where players with Raid Assist capabilities were unable to perform a Ready Check. //Excellent.
* Fixed a bug where the first couple of tutorials were not displaying upon logging into the game. //Welcome new players!

Moly’s World PvP Top 4
There were BG distractions from 19-49. As for world PvP on a PvP server, it is far and few between.
I was keeping my eyes out for some. You hear all this talk about “care bear” servers. There is the /rawr and the stroking of their epeens about leveling on a PvP server.
I will tell you… it is scarce.
I didn’t have max level characters to call upon for aid. I killed or was killed by some of the Alliance that I came across. But, it would be huge levels between incidents.
A lot of times I couldn’t be bothered. *shrug* But if they bothered me, I would get a chance to practice my jump shot. *grin*
I will give you that I was not new to the game….but whatever. It was not this scary, painful, wondrous thing to do. It was just leveling. No real difference then on my “care bear” RP realm.
Thinking back, to my 80 levels here are some of my most memorable world PvP incidents. The last being my absolute favorite… it reinforces the creative use of game mechanics.
1. Taming Bellygrub
Remember hunters running all over the world getting pet abilities? At level 24, Bellygrub was the only boar with Gore 4. He resides in Redridge Mountains, not the easiest place for a lowbie Horde hunter to get to.
I ghost ran to Westfall. Logged out and back in so I could revive there. I was a lone naked blood elf in the graveyard. I died again … repeatedly.
Apparently there was Horde there messing with Alliance. Alliance called for help and their 70s had shown up. So I was in the middle of a 70s battle and … all I wanted to do was get to Bellygrub … zones away.
I whispered a 70 druid there killing Alliance about my predicament. He dragged them away to let me revive and run on my way.
2. Western Plaguelands
In an effort to make leveling interesting, I tried to focus on areas that I never did on Hydra. I had never quested in this zone.
I was tabbed out of warcraft. I was on wowhead looking for Diseased Wolves for the quest The Wildlife Suffers Too. (Yes, I remember the exact quest… Husband thinks it funny I can remember stuff like this but not names of people I just met.)
I suddenly hear myself getting attacked. I assumed it was wildlife.
It was wildlife alright … in the form of a ret pally.
My pet was faithfully gnawing on his leg. I was at half health. Pally wanted to play while I was afk.
Wing clip. Frost trap. Jump shot. Concussive shot. Kite. Heh. This hunter was trained covering the fields of Warsong.
What we have here is a hunter in quest greens you couldn’t kill with a head start. /lol
3. Hellfire
Off though the Dark Portal I went to Outland. You would think I would learn not to go AFK on the road. A rogue ganking was in order.
I just let it kill me.
If I remember correctly, I went to get a sandwich. I’m sure it was worth it.
4. Dragonblight
I was turning in a quest at Wyrmrest Temple. Hovering in the vendor area, I noticed an 80 Death Knight killing.
Who am I to disrupt his fun! MOR KILLING!
I got close enough to the DK so when he spread his diseases I would get it. Now in combat, I would share the diseases… with the guards. Well … heh… guard collecting was my fun.
Get disease and in combat… grab a few guards for the DK.
All the while I was flying around on my mount.
Hey! If I killed him, it would be only 1% durability loss. This way he got the 10%... kinda like I killed him 10 times over. Bwahahaha.

This Arena Season
I have kinda ignored the last few arena seasons at 80.
Also, It has been a long time since I twinked regularly. The one thing twinking did do was get me connected with a lot of friends that enjoy a PvP rumble now and then. That is where all my arena partners have come from.
A Ret Pally friend and I did 2s this season for the fun of it. We got to 1115 rating. Not so bad for a team with no real healer. Both of us enjoyed it for the challenge of the games. We were really an unlikely duo to do well.
I learned to watch for his stuns. I tried to time my Shadowfury for the best affect. I learned the effect of a well placed Demonic Portal. I repeatedly learned the death by whirlwinding warriors and stunlocking rogues.
Then over a month ago he decided to take some time off from WoW. No more partner around to dabble in arenas.
A friend, PvP Holy Pally and his partner have 2000 plus rating for the fun of it attitude. Season 7 they can no longer get the titles and rewards in 2v2. So they have been carrying people to help get them some gear. I could really use a 1300 rating for some new boots.
Unfortunately I didn’t have lead on my 2v2 team before my friend left the game. I really didn’t want to start all over at a zero rating.
So we thought and thought about what to do. Then he had the brilliant idea that I join their 3v3 team.
I didn’t want to mess with their rating or anything. Apparently they have been trying a bunch of 3s partners. Things have not worked out. This would get me my boots while they figured out what they wanted to do. Sounded like a great fit.
Off we went.
So even if you don’t PvP you should know this… team consists of …
Holy Pally
Warrior
Warlock
Who will be targeted first 80% of the time?
Yea… I found that out quick.
Most of our games consist of me trying to stay alive for the first three minutes. CC the healer. Let the warrior actually kill them. LOS the ranged. Not LOS my healer. And screaming in vent “I FOUND THE ROGUE!!!! GET IT OFF!!! GET IT OFF!!! GET IT OFF!!!”
That brings us to only a few weeks of 3v3s at a rating of 1675.
I am amazed since that puts us at 862 in the Emberstorm Battlegroup.
I heard that my partners were asked to go off and play with another. DENIED.
Which is kinda sweet of them… so I guess I can take arenas a little more seriously… since well at this point it was natural knowledge of the class and past PvP experience.
Some things I need to start looking at to help us improve.
1. Stop apologizing for dieing.
2. Actually maximize keybindings for PvP.
3. Get real PvP macros.
4. Actually READ something on PvP.
5. Start at Arena Junkies.
6. Work on more pet control.
7. Consider an affliction spec.
8. Glyph solely for PvP and not PvE dual usage.
9. Actually get all the honor gear I qualify for with our current rating.
10. Pay more attention to my Warriors health bar.
11. Figure out how to CC, DPS, move, and live all at the same time.
12. Make sure it stays fun!
We are way past the rating for me to get my boots. I totally get to laugh at the Warrior when he rages. I imagine it is something like this... J/K (kinda)
As for the name of my team and the fact that the tabard is a cheery… it is what I get for joining a team created by teenage boys.

Addon: Too Many Addons
While poking around my new guild forums I came across a great discussion on managing addons.
The problem is prior to raid having individuals log out to deselect non-essential addons for raiding and log back in. If you happen to forget to do this your frame rates would plummet to the single digits during a fight.
A solution is the addon Too Many Addons. You open the interface with /TMA. You can then make profiles for addons you want to set up for at the time.
I installed it and it was very intuitive to set up. You can load profiles from characters on other realms. If you have pre-raid routine you can also set up a macro to one click with “/TMA aProfileName”.
My raiding profile eliminates any questing, auction, trade skill, and data addons I use. It only includes those addons I use for my UI, DBM, and anything needed to make killing easier. While raiding I truly don’t care that a guildie just picked Kingsblood in STV.
My general profile contains most of my addons, with a few exceptions.
My bank characters profile includes UI and banking related addons. It doesn’t include the only-for-use-in-raiding addons. This helps with loading between characters.
The addon had an “Always Load These Addons” profile. This should overwrite all selections in the other profiles. The must have in the profile is Too Many Addons itself checked. You will want to be able to get back to modify selections even if you want to disable it all.
If I have a new warlock I can easily import profiles from Hydra from a drop down menu. This makes setting up characters a little bit easier.

Wintergrasp….meh
First, the new Wintergrasp changes better not affect my fishing daily quest. If I get ported out of the area because a Wintergrasp started I will be extremely pissed. Particularly because the PvP side of Wintergrasp is broken.
Wintergrasp was broken my first run in there. Tuesday the fishing daily was in WG. Since it was 13 minutes prior to the battle starting I entered and was immediately asked to queue for battle. I did that.
I finished my fishing quest with 4 minutes to spare. Well... there are herbs to pick and Horde to kill. You know. Fishing delays.
The game started.
I can say it was underwealming. Even though it was 11 PM server there just didn’t seem to be enough people in the zone to make it feel like a battle. Where I would run into packs of 5-8 Horde I saw 1-2. Where I would see 5-8 Alliance I ran into 2.
It was … disappointing.
Alliance won the battle. But this was the first time in a long time it went for the full length of the time. We basically stalled to win.
Then I didn’t receive my three marks or a quest complete for winning Wintergrasp. As of Thursday night I still didn’t have my issue resolved. The Wintergrasp fix is broken and if the fix brakes my fishing I will start screaming.

Then I didn’t receive my three marks or a quest complete for winning Wintergrasp. As of Thursday night I still didn’t have my issue resolved. The Wintergrasp fix is broken and if the fix brakes my fishing I will start screaming.

Turning Off Experience
Turning off twink experience was the first thing I did when I logged into Aurum.
From 3.2 patch notes:
Alliance
Go to the Stormwind War Room as you enter you will find Behsten just to the right. He is a stealthed human rogue in the corner. Talk to him and let him know “I no longer wish to gain experience”. This will turn off your experience for 10 gold.
If you want to turn experience back on, you respond to him “I wish to start gaining experience again.” After that you will start getting experience again.
Horde
Go to the Orgrimmar War Room turn left when you get into the building. He is a stealthed undead rogue. Talk to him and let him know “I no longer wish to gain experience”. This will turn off your experience for 10 gold.
If you want to turn experience back on, you respond to him “I wish to start gaining experience again.” After that you will start getting experience again.
You will notice that both Behsten and Slahtz are geared as 19 rogue twinks. A guildy and I made quick work identifying their gear: Green Tinted Goggles, Sentry Cloak, Serpent's Shoulders, Gloves of the Fang, Blackened Defias Armor, Deviate Scale Belt, Blackend Defias leggings, Feet of the Lynx, Assassin's Blade, Cruel Barb, and both weapons are enchanted with Lifestealing.
It actually took me a while to identify the life stealing enchant. It had been so long ago that I tested it. As a guild we recommend against that enchant because the proc rate is so bad at 19. We have done a lot of testing in the 19s.
While standing there inspecting Behsten’s gear I was able to see some of his emotes.
A guildie was all excited about the turned off experience. He was able to finally level his skinning and even farm for the Prefect Deviate scales while waiting on queues to pop. He can even do some questing for the fun of it.
Also, I want to say thank you to MissB. He has been instrumental in creating www.FarstridersElite.com and keeping all the hot headed PvPers going. I also want to give him a very belated congratulation to having over 50,000 honor kills on a 19 twink. I feel privileged to have been a part of a few thousand of those. MissB is now over 50% on his way to the “of the Alliance” title.
From 3.2 patch notes:
Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold.To turn off ALL your experience points for a character you need to visit you faction specific NPC. Here is where to find them.
Alliance
If you want to turn experience back on, you respond to him “I wish to start gaining experience again.” After that you will start getting experience again.
Horde
If you want to turn experience back on, you respond to him “I wish to start gaining experience again.” After that you will start getting experience again.

Patch 3.2 Hacked Up Notes
I don’t think I am the target audience for Blizzard. I watched the cinematic for Patch 3.2 Call of the Crusade. The cinematic looks great. Once it was done I realized it didn’t highlight anyone thing that I am looking forward to in this patch.
1) Twink only battles by turning off experience points.
2) Lifeblood doesn’t have GCD, again.
3) I get a purple Kitteh.
I rewatched it after reading the patch notes. Still nothing…
Here are the patch notes with only things I care about or thought funny. There is no reason for you to read these except in EXTREAM boredom. The full patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/.
Crusaders' Coliseum
//They added 6 new instances. Crusaders' Coliseum holds 5-man normal and heroic, 10-man normal and heroic, and 25-man normal and heroic.
Isle of Conquest
//a new BG was added. It is time to get your vehicle on 40 man style. The resources usage takes me back to Age of Mythology.
General
//Blah blah blah. There are other places to get this information, like the real patch notes.
* The Argent Tournament Expands
o All new Argent Crusader daily quests and rewards have been added for players with the Crusader title. Rewards include a new Argent Crusader banner and tabard (which can port players to the tournament grounds), a mounted squire (can periodically run bank, mail or vendor errands for the player), a paladin-exclusive Argent Crusader Charger mount and new heirloom items. //Hearth to tourney and I have been wanting a more useful slave child since I cannot put a leash on him.
* New Dungeon Loot Feature
o Players will now be able to trade soulbound items with other raid or group members that were eligible for the loot. This system will work like the Item Buy Back system and allow 2 hours for players to trade an item after it has been looted. Players who choose to enchant or add gems to the item will get one last confirmation before losing the ability to trade the item. // This is pure customer service win.
* New druid art for Cat Form and Bear Form has been added. There are now five unique color schemes for each form and faction. Changing hair color (night elves) or skin tone (tauren) via the barbershop will change the look of one's cat and bear forms. //PURPLE KITTEH NOW!!!! *lick*
PvP
* Arenas
o Beginning with season 7, players will no longer have access to the newest season's weapons or shoulder armor and will not qualify for the Gladiator title/rewards with ratings from the 2v2 bracket alone. Ratings obtained through 3v3 and 5v5 game play will be required for these rewards, while the rest of the newest season's items will remain available to players in all brackets (standard rating restrictions still apply). //I am going to be running Arenas this season. I was told there needs to be more warlocks in arena so I have been practicing. What have I learned? I was going to say “I’m a noob.” But I knew that already, mostly that Demonic Circle http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=48020 is your friend and Shadowfury http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=47847 is fun!
* Battlegrounds
o Battleground experience has arrived!
+ Players will now be awarded experience for completing objectives and actions that yield honor in Battlegrounds (honorable kills not included).
+ Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold. //TWINKS DO IT. This should be one of the first things you should do. I am going to do this with different toons to try it all out before Aurum sets foot into another BG.
+ Disabling experience gains will prevent a player from gaining experience through any means available in the game.
+ Players with experience gains turned off who compete in Battlegrounds will face off only against other players with experience gains turned off. //I like this a lot. I am still concern about the queue times. Time will tell us if it is bad or not.
+ Behsten and Slahtz can reinstate experience gains for players, for a 10 gold fee of course. Any experience that would've been accumulated if experience gains were enabled cannot be recovered. //The unrecoverable experience is a good thing. I had a flash of turning this off and months of exp popping up for the toon. *shiver*
o Battlemasters in major cities affiliated with specific Battlegrounds have been replaced with a Battlemaster for each faction that will allow players to queue for any Battleground. Battlemasters for specific Battlegrounds will still be seen around the cities during corresponding Battleground holiday weekends. //Less NPCs. I was just thinking though that the ones in Ironforge seemed to be having an intense meeting. Apparently they are done chatting it up.
o When standing at a capture point that you control, you will gain a buff called Honorable Defender. This buff grants +50% honor gained from kills. This currently affects Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm and Isle of Conquest.
o Arathi Basin
+ The time it requires to capture a base has been reduced to 8 seconds, down from 10 seconds.
+ The game now ends when one team reaches 1600 victory points, down from 2000.
o Eye of the Storm
+ The time it requires to capture the center flag has been reduced to 8 seconds, down from 10 seconds
+ The game now ends when one team reaches 1600 victory points, down from 2000.
o Strand of the Ancients
+ The faction starting on attack/defense will now be randomized at the start of each match.
o Warsong Gulch
+ There is a now a 20-minute timer on this Battleground. After that time, the team with the most flag captures wins. If this would result in a tie, the team that captured the first flag wins. If neither side has captured a flag, then the game ends in a tie.
* Wintergrasp //LOSERS! Take something that was so popular and f-uk it up. If these changes make it painful to do my fishing daily, I am putting in a help ticket. EVERY TIME.
o To provide players with a more transparent notification of when Wintergrasp battles occur, as well as better control zone population and stability, several changes have been made.
+ Players now have the option to queue for Wintergrasp from a Wintergrasp Battlemaster in any capital city or by simply entering the Wintergrasp zone.
+ Queuing will begin 15 minutes before each battle. If chosen, you will automatically be teleported to the zone. Any players in the zone who have not been chosen from the queue will be teleported out when the battle begins.
+ The queue system remains active for the entire battle. As soon as a player leaves, a new one will be chosen from the queue.
+ Trying to enter Wintergrasp during an active battle for which you have not been chosen will teleport you out. Please note that, as you are now able to fly over Wintergrasp, you will only be teleported out if you try to land and join the battle. //What about fishing f-ckers. This whole impeding my fishing is making me twitch.
+ Level 80 players get higher priority in the queue than lower level players. In addition, a random selection of queued players will be taken from both the Battlemasters and the zone itself.
+ The queue will accept up to 120 players from each faction, resulting in a maximum battle of 240 players at a time.
o Wintergrasp factories can no longer be damaged or destroyed.
Dungeons and Raids
* Dungeon and Raid ID Extensions //We will see how this goes. I think smaller guilds will benefit from this more.
* Emblem System Changes. //Yes. This is a good thing.
* The Nexus: The Oculus & The Eye of Eternity
o Drakes used by players in these instances will now scale in health and damage according to the rider's average item level. //YES. This may make up do our last achievements for heroic instances to get out drakes.
* Ulduar //Yogg-Saron changes. Which I would care about if we could poke at ‘em.
o Players can now use Blink, Shadowstep, and Demonic Teleport while participating in the illusion events in the Yogg-Saron encounter.
Items: General
* Agility: The amount of agility required per percentage of dodge has been increased by 15%.
* Dodge Rating: The amount of dodge rating required per percentage of dodge has been increased by 15%.
* Item Buy Back Feature Revised
o The Item Buy Back time will now expire if the player enchants or sockets an item. Players will see a confirmation dialog box now when they attempt to enchant or add gems to an item giving them a last chance to reconsider.
* Items with Triggered Effects: These items generally have cooldowns on how often they can be triggered. Those cooldowns are now triggered each time the item is equipped (example: A trinket has a 45-second cooldown on an effect triggered by player attacks; when a player equips that item, the effect will be unable to be triggered for the first 45 seconds it is worn).
* Mounts //I am sure you know riding skills changed. Go someplace else for details.
o Flying over Dalaran and Wintergrasp is now possible so long as players keep a healthy distance above the ground.
* Mana Regeneration: All items that provide "X mana per five seconds" have had the amount of mana they regenerate increased by approximately 25%.
* Resilience: No longer reduces the amount of damage done by damage-over-time spells, but instead reduces the amount of all damage done by players by the same proportion. In addition, the amount of resilience needed to reduce critical strike chance, critical strike damage and overall damage has been increased by 15%.
Classes: General
* All pets now receive 40% of their master's resilience and 100% of their master's spell penetration. In addition, if a player is at their appropriate spell hit chance or hit chance maximum, their pet will be at the maximum for spell hit chance, hit chance, and expertise. If they are below the maximum, their pet will be proportionately below those maximums. //Pet buff! But I am sure you had as much pet control as I did that your pet survivability was high already, correct? O.o
* Replenishment: This buff now grants 1% of the target's maximum mana over 5 seconds instead of 0.25% per second. This applies to all 5 sources of Replenishment (Vampiric Touch, Judgements of the Wise, Hunting Party, Enduring Winter Frostbolts and Soul Leech). //Replenishment nerf. What was once 0.25% per second is now 0.20% per second. A 20% reduction.
* Silence, Strangulate, Silencing Shot, and Arcane Torrent: These abilities will also apply a 3-second Interrupt effect against non-player controlled targets, making them more versatile against creatures immune to silencing effects. //Thinking the Gundrak mammoth interrupt achievement.
Death Knights
//My DK has been QQ about this for weeks and weeks. It is now here. I am now bracing myself for more QQ. I still like him anyway.
* Due to significant talent changes, all death knight talents will be reset for players.
Druids //PURPLE KITTEH.

* Flight Form and Swift Flight Form: Now benefit from a paladin's Crusader Aura.
* Innervate: Duration reduced to 10 seconds, and cooldown reduced to 3 minutes. This means each use of Innervate will give half as much mana as before, but it will be available twice as often.

Mages

//Priests happen.

* Talents
o Combat

o Subtlety
+ Shadow Dance: Cooldown reduced to 1 minute. Now lasts 6 seconds, down from 10 seconds.

* A customizable totem bar will now be available for shamans allowing the storing of 4 different totems. These totems can be placed on the ground at once in one global cooldown for the combined mana cost of all 4 totems.
* Ghost Wolf: Can now be learned at level 16. While in this form, snaring effects may not bring the shaman below base normal run speed. //This is going to suck at 19. With Shammies, hunters, and druids getting speed increase it will complete change the different roles in the WSG game.
Warlocks
* Banish: Effect will now be cancelled if Banish is recast on a banished target. //Which is great… if you was not trying to re-banish. Even more reason for you to pay attention to when your banish breaks.

* Talents

They will then return again for the regularly-scheduled Children's Week next year. //Wait … I know I killed those Wolvar pups already.

+ The game now ends when one team reaches 1600 victory points, down from 2000.

o Warsong Gulch

But I am sure you had as much pet control as I did that your pet survivability was high already, correct? O.o

This applies to all 5 sources of Replenishment (Vampiric Touch, Judgements of the Wise, Hunting Party, Enduring Winter Frostbolts and Soul Leech). //Replenishment nerf. Goblin in the Gulch
Gavlon over at Greedy Goblin was playing 19s Warsong Gulch. He was looking at players behavior while trying to complete objectives. It was a good assessment.
All of his talk about time and gold. I was shocked that they spent time on the Furbolg Medicine Pouch. That is a reputation grind and can be only bought at honored. Many a druid I have helped with that grind and it is not a small feat.
He also leveled engineering for his priest for the head piece. He could have stopped at getting the Shadow Goggles. Particularly since he was dedicated enough to go fishing. The idea that Gavlon was fishing for the fishing hat sends me into giggle fits.
There are other … ok lots of things… that would have been better and ultimately cheaper. All of you that actually know twink gear stick to the spirit of the exercise. Everyone else, they are geared enough, just not my definition of a twink.
It only takes three people to easily control the game, two to be annoying.
With three you have one to carry the flag, one to defend, and one to float from the two to help where the apposing team is strongest.
From the beginning all I wanted was two others in team that would listen and KNOW how to play. The other seven in the game can be a pack, that kills in the middle, runs in a mob, and basically runs in circle chanting “Red is dead.” Ultimately, using Gavlon’s term being M&S**.
The most important tool in a battleground is your zone minimap. I feel like it is so important it is on my side bar Zone Map = Shift + M.
The M&S will tell you where the Horde is and as a flag carrier you can attempt to avoid them. The M&S will also tell you if the apposing team is going ramp or GY. The idea that you would get this information from actual BG chat is lolable. Twinks have macros for this, M&S don't know it is important information.
Also the “stall” in game he talks about is called a Turtle. Turtle is where the one team just defends in their base. I don’t have the patience anymore for the epic two and a half hour turtles. Granted with the debuff long games are at least a reduced possibility.
Not once did you see me say I needed "three GEARED to the teeth players". Nope, it is about knowing what you are doing that is more important. The ability to react to the information given to win.
It is good to see new people starting up twinks and running them. I am looking forward to being able to turn off experience and only fighting twinks. I may actually want to run games more then once a month.

Patch 3.1.2 In-Game Equipment Manager
Blizzard broke two battlegroups last night. No further Ulduar raid Monday night. I was happy it went down prior to raid formation. That way we didn't take the time to form up the raid. I really hope that failure in the realms is not a reflection of this patch.
Full patch notes for are here for Patch 3.1.2.

Argent Tournament mounts with the old textures will still be available for purchase from the Argent Tournament vendors for a small [Champion's Seal] and gold cost (standard faction requirements apply). //More mounts for everyone!
PvP
* Vehicle health and damage output in Strand of the Ancients and Lake Wintergrasp now scale with the item level of the operator's gear. Power scaling is now 1% damage and 1% health per average item level.
* All Lake Wintergrasp daily quests have been changed to a weekly format. The honor and [Stone Keeper's Shards] rewarded for completing these quests have been increased to compensate. //Boooooooo.
* The bonus honor for winning the battle in Wintergrasp and controlling/destroying towers has been reduced. //They make something successful that people actually want to play. Their reaction is to nerf it. *shakes head*

They are pretty dumb. Sounds like they had to buff the spell. *grin* I jest… a little.
Warlocks
* Conflagrate updated: Consumes an Immolate or Shadowflame effect on the enemy target to instantly deal damage equal to 12 seconds of your Immolate, or 8 seconds of your Shadowflame.

While the shield holds, spell casting will not be interrupted by damage. 1-minute cooldown. //Interesting change… will have to play with this one.
* Shadow and Flame: Now also includes Shadowburn.
Items
* Increased the health and mana restored from Northrend food and drinks. //Thank goodness. Drinking for others takes forever to get full mana. Life Tap FTW!!
* Most scopes now have a level requirement and will bind the item to which they are applied. //I cannot think of a twink scope that this would effect. But I am sure someone will tell me.
* Ulduar 10-player hard mode weapons have been updated to item level 232.
Professions
Fishing
* Jewel of the Sewers: You can now fish in all parts of the Dalaran sewers for this quest. //I knew there was something fishy. *golf clap*
* [Phantom Ghostfish]: Can now be caught from [Nettlefish] schools in Sholazar Basin. //Mount pool fishing and daily combined.
Bug fixes
Rogues
* Tricks of the Trade: To prevent exploits, this ability can no longer be cast on non-player targets. //ROLF. It is the exploit line. If they left that bit out it would not be as funny. But don’t you NOW want to know how it was being exploited?

Warlocks
* Demonic Sacrifice: This spell will no longer appear in any Warlock's spellbook.
Dungeons and raids
* Players can no longer become saved to an instance when they aren't in the instance during a boss kill.
Ulduar
* Hodir should now reset in a timely manner if a group fails to kill him.
* 10-player bosses that drop [Runed Orbs] will also sometimes drop the recipes that use those orbs.
* The Spark of Imagination: Characters that release in part of the boss room will no longer be ported to Westfall or The Barrens.

Busy Killin’ and Chillin’
I have 16 pages of written blog lists and post. This latest patch has soaked all my blogging time. I will get back to it. *looks at notes* Well those things that are still readable. Here are some random things going on.
The Argent Tournament.
The faction pets are not soulbound. I found this the other night. Any enterprising Horde or Alliance can sell them the other faction for outrageous prices (think thousands of gold). Like all things sooner the better to reap the benefits.
My druid is just starting the tourney dailies. It would be great to find a Horde on server willing to do the dailies and we can trade the faction pets. (*wave* @Oath.)
I wants it all!!!
With tips from guildies I also figured out a good step by step to beating Champions. Keep 3 shields up. Charge when they go in range. Make a wide circle around them to shield brake. Melee. Repeat each time they try to get in distance.
Duel Spec
I paid my one thousand gold and then promptly forgot I even did it until this weekend.
I did put together a passable PvP spec for the achievement, School of Hard Knocks. Which I totally cheated on btw… Had a pocket pally healer with a PvP title run around with me. He “bopped” people to stop Alliance from turning flags instead of me. He used Crusader Aura in Eye of the Storm to grab flag first then hand it off to me. It was easy peesy. And you laugh at those of us that twink. It is good to have PvP friends for things like this.
Lock Replenishment
After my foray into PvP I have a Replenishment warlock spec. I am using a 3/15/55 spec. This is only the first one I have tried. Use beware. It has Suppression for hit and Improved Soul Leech for the raid replenishment.
I do have to say I am quite pleased. I have lost a little DPS but Naltog has gain a bit. As my other guild lock pointed out …
I am trying to keep it one lock and one mage does replenishment. We are thinking that it may not work out that way since the lock drop in damage is not even close to what the mage replenishment spec is like.
Fishing Dailies
I got a CRAB! I didn’t even know they added the crab pet to the fishing daily. It was quite a shock that it showed up in my bag. I like the dailies. Silly rogues trying to kill me in Wintergrasp while fishing. LOVE IT! BRING IT ON!!
Raiding
Ulduar-25 we are just farming Loot Leviathan. Our 25 raiders are not geared for Ulduar success. Well it is not just gear. It is also some need to raid with us more to understand how we work together. I love being launched on top and kill all the turrets. So much fun!
Ulduar-10 we have the council down. And it was a fun fight! There was special stuff for everyone to do. Tanks to move boss. Healers to cleanse and heal. Range dps to stand in runes. Melee to help interrupt casts. Fun raiding is fun.
Naxx, OS, and borked EoE-25 is still also happening. There are very few upgrades there for me. The goal is to get everyone enough gear to run Ulduar. People were instructed to go to wow-heros.com and if they don’t have a 2200 gear rating to think about what they need and what to do about it. I hope that in another two weeks or so we will be back into Ulduar 25. (BTW. I, Hydra was the best geared in guild as of start of 3.1. *grin* I was told that. I didn’t look it up.)
All this and blogging was not going to happen. /flop

Thanks Megan
Thank you Megan of Out of Mana for all your fun blog posts over the last two years. Your wit and candidness was always something I looked forward too. Thank you for helping me understand the power and weakness of the warlock. You will be missed.
Good luck!

Twink Changes 3.1 More
I was having trouble on the PTR on seeing enchants that I didn't have through an enchanter link. So was unable to see anything else. Any new twinks being made really should have done research enough to know changes were happening and to wait until 3.1 was upon us.
Another change is that the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth and the Motorcycle will no longer be classified as vehicles. Which no longer lets you into Underground Ironforge. So I went down and visited.

Twink Changes 3.1
Is this a “NERF TWINKS”?
A scrub is a scrub.
A twink is only a twink if you have the skill to back up your enchants.

My Raiding Bane Wintergrasp
I am happy with Wintergrasp (WG) in general. The shear farming value of the area made it a favorite immediately. There are elementals to fear and kite and kill and loot. *bliss* It is elemental plateau all over again but BIGGER. (Only change I would make is the Shadow area would be one-third less and the Fire area would be three times bigger.)
During farming there is the random killing of other players. But then I discovered the real beauty of the area… set times to kill Horde.
How long till the next WG?
Twelve minutes! I will go fish and wait.
No I cannot do Heroics until WG is over.
Hurry up. WG is about to start.
Kill the towers.
Defend the walls.
Stop the feed of vehicles.
DoT everything and everyone.
Yummy. Death Knight flavor tastes like Cheery.
SEED. Curse. Corrupt.
*watches the lovely numbers*
There is a hat, shoes, and a trinket I want to acquire. I need 40+ 15+ 25 =80 lovely marks.
That is all fine and grand. But it is starting to affect my raiding life.
Two things have happened in the last week that I bring this up.
Naxx pet pull.
I don’t normally raid with my felpuppy. I typically run with my imp. In the 10-man Naxx run I was running with felpuppy to fill in some missing buffs or something. We had just been playing in WG. He gets set on aggressive for WG because I am a lazy lock in BGs.
Twice my Felpuppy pulled. First on Heigan, in all the confusion I didn’t understand what happened. Second time was on Instructor Razuvious, which luckily can be reset.
Not until the second time did I even notice.
I could not believe it. What a nub. We did not wipe. Through trash pulls and bosses he was not on passive. It was such a basic mistake for me to make. There are no excuses. Just understanding how it happened.
Raiding in PvP gear.
I ran OS25 with 20 people for the achievement. I was helping to set it up. Whispering everyone I knew. I had finished killing the Horde in WG. I was summoned and went through the entire fight… in my PvP gear.
During this I was checking the damage meter. I was confused. At one point I reset my meter thinking “lag cannot be that bad”. I was in a PuG with some of the better players on my friends list. I was not putting a good showing for warlocks. Let alone for the dps I know I am capable to bring. Ouch.
/sigh
I see the cause of these mistakes as Wintergrasp. Ultimate fault lies in me. I am not keeping to my own pre-raid checks. These both were PuGs. I need to force myself to take the time to do my pre-raid checks.
This was absolutely a good wake up call. What does this mean for Wintergrasp and me?
/pwn mor
I prescribe more killing in Wintergrasp prior to raid so I can have practice swapping from PvP to PvE mindset.
*thinks*
Maybe pre-raid soulshard farming can be turned into suck-the-life-out-of-a-few-Horde-to-save-for-later-amusement.
Nothing says love more for your healer like a soulstone made from another player.

Random Goings On
I found this Small, Medium, and Large demonstration in Husband’s Screenshots.
A hunter and pet symbiosis is always a good thing. Yes, Fraggle Rocks.
Love Fools have the same cooldown as healthstones.
I raided 5 nights in a row. My guild starts at 8 PM server (most of the time promptly) and ends at 11 PM. I have determined that it is too much. … I am going to have figure out how to not sign up when I have an enabler at home.
I cannot decide if I like 10-man or 25-man Naxx more.
In our first 25 man Patchwork, almost all (less 2) the dps in the raid was hitting 3K or more. I hit 3841 dps per recount. I don’t like seeing the quick dips. I think that is where Shadow Embrace is falling off. I know at the end that was a whisper that caught my eye.
Warlock aggro management is an issue on Noth, Loatheb (if you're not spored and the tank gets the debuff), and Malygos. Thanks Llanion (AKA Bob of BA Chat) over at Moonfire! for confirming I am seeing a general trend. He also noted that aggro is an issue on the first few seconds of a Grobbulus fight and Patchwerk for Melee.
When someone says on vent “There is no Primal Air on the auction house.” I went and put them up for twice I thought they were worth. Yea, people bought them.
I started doing 2v2 arena. We won as much as we lost. Partner is a PvP healy pally. I have about 450 resilience.
Arena names are fun. We won our first ever Season 4 Arena together.
I think a 9 minute Arena is long. They won but didn’t live up to their name. phail.
My partner still doesn't believe I am as bad as I say I am.
A while back, we were talking about all of Jaina’s high profile boyfriends.
